I chose this campsite because it was one of the few places with sites available for reservation at the last minute, plus there’s the huge lake nearby. Pretty area, but the campground itself seemed to not be taken very well care of. There’s no official check-in area, so we drove around for a bit at the entrance until we decided to head to the site. Firewood bundles at $8. On the way, we passed several dumpsters that were overflowing with trash to the point where the bear locks were useless. The bathrooms were also the nastiest Ive ever seen in all my years of camping. Odors aside, I basically felt like we were walking on feces. You can walk fifteen minutes to the lake or drive over and pay a $5 fee. There are some cabins in the area, so not secluded. Perfect for families or those who do not camp often. We were surrounded by a group of families doing an annual trip who warned us about their kids being noisy, but we weren’t bothered at all! Overall good trip, just remember to bring soap and wipes for those vault toilets.

Silver Lake East national campground had just opened a few days before our June 28th camping trip. They have both reservable and first come first served spaces. There are three or four loops in the east campground. Is it just recently rained and the flowers and the smells were quite delightful. The campground was dry as they were repairing several leaks in the water system. The toilet facilities were still open and not affected by the lack of water. You may find it easier to get a reservation here. Silver Lake is a beautiful lake! It was very high this year with the recent rain. The campground is contiguous to kit Carson resort. We hiked the pothole'd hike downstream from the reservoir. Absolutely beautiful! You'll want to take that hike. It's not demanding. Although it does take you through a. Section of last year's Caldor Fire.

Beautiful place. I’m pretty sure I seen a wolf roaming around that campground in the off season this year. I’ve seen a lot of coyotes in my life but I’m pretty certain it was a wolf. It was larger and lighter in color overall than most coyotes I’ve ever seen. Silver Lake is one of the most beautiful places on the planet.

Great camping spaces with beautiful views from sunset point and Pot Hole Trail. Silver Lake is across the highway walking distance from the camp grounds. On site Rangers make you feel safe at night and they keep the area and restrooms very clean. Can't wait to go back again.....

Is it open for camping
There are different size campsites but the one I had cost around $30 per night. The capacity was about 6 people.
Yes have some or all dog camp sites
1/2 reservations and 1/2 first come first serve
Don't think there is a limit, but lots of submerged rocks on the lake so wouldn't do high speed runs there. Hit several rocks at 2 miles per hour and just saw before impact, and was looking for them the whole time.
Yes. No problem.
Yes 25-30 a night
Yes, on a leash.
