This is the former site of a plant that almost had a full nuclear meltdown, multiple fires that spread radioactive materials throughout the area, and had huge leaks of radioactive waste into the groundwater. For years, homes were not allowed to be built within miles of this place, until greed took over and the risk was buried (figuratively and literally). Search “rocky flats disaster” and realize why you need to stay away from this place.

Rocky Flats has a lot of open space for hiking, as well as, plenty of wildlife. A good sized parking lot.

It is a place to walk on the plains, no trees no kiosks or place to sit. I didn't see a single animal. I don't think I would go again.

Love the view.

There absolutely were radioactive materials at this site - plutonium, strontium, americium. Plutonium was stored and released from RF. There is no safe level of plutonium exposure and the half-life is 24,000 years. I suggest reading the book "Full Body Burden". The declaration of Rocky Flats as a wildlife refuge is a coverup and the real estate developers and business folks who are saying this area is safe, only care about making money.
Do you mean trails? If yes... Then there are trails on the refuge, including part of the Greenway trail. Pets are not permitted though.
No hunting. You can find more information on the refuge website
RC planes have a strip down on the north east corner of 72nd and Indiana. As far as drones, I would check with park service but anything near the Wind site and jeffco airport are considered federal airspace. Unfortunately, drone operators have gotten a reputation of "irresponsible operation" in a lot of the nation. Flying around fire fighting efforts and search and rescue operations. Double check with your county Sheriff's office for more information before risking substantial fines.
Yes, access to the parking lot and trail system is free. When I visited on opening day the info sign at the trailhead was stocked with trail maps that also indicate wildlife that might be observed.
Dawn to dusk but not super enforced. Plus the whole area glows in the dark?😂
