UPDATE: Melanie Zimmerman, Sr. Area Director and Debbie Wren continue to falsify payment documents on my payment ledger to rack up additional late fees and embezzle money despite their claims that their error was not nefarious..

Worst apartment complex I've ever lived at (Lansing native). One word: OUTDATED. We had to get our water heater replaced the first day we moved in. It was way overdue and they should have caught that themselves before we moved in - big risk. Also our oven, and many other things I won't bore you with. Our apartment looked like it was designed in the 70s and they hadn't updated a single thing. It's like the whole apartment was tinted yellow. Bathroom and kitchen were the worst parts. I checked the date on the toilet: July 18, 1970. So that isn't even sarcasm. Whenever maintenance came, they would also comment on this being one of the worst apartments they've seen. ELECTRIC BILLS EXTREMELY HIGH. Summer's are HOT. The wall AC unit was in the living room and the way they designed the apartment, none of the cool air gets to the bedrooms. Average of 80 degrees in our apartment in the summer. Picture attached :) Would have loved to open our windows more, yet the screens were halfway off on all of them, letting bugs in. They blamed the high bills on the heat and AC. Then they should update their HORRIBLE insulation, baseboard heating and poor AC. The only pro about living here is the location and the size of our rooms. They maintained the hallways, the outside, paved a new road, always cutting the shrubs and grass. If only they could do the same with the inside of their apartments. It wasn't even cleaned properly when we moved in. Last word of advice: DO NOT sign here unless you can see the apartment before signing. Some have updated kitchens which I have seen that are very nice. However, they wouldn't let us see the apartment before signing. Red flag.

I stayed here when I was in law school in 2017 (now I am a licensed attorney) and I must say that it was the worst rental experience in my life, second to my stay at the Burnt Tree Apartments which is another property managed by DTN. In a nutshell, my apartment was "inspected" about 3-5 times a month; my "all-electric" utility bill in the winter averaged around $275 per month (the expensive electricity cost was not disclosed to me at the time I signed my lease); and neon letters were placed on my door probably every other day about "something". My rent was $810 a month and management increased it to an additional $149 (or so) for me to renew my lease (I had only resided in the unit for about 9 months). Needless to say, I did not renew the lease. My heart goes out to the individual who posted the review about management coming after him for a "missed payment" over five years ago. I still have all of the documentation from my stay there, because I was that traumatized. I didn't have time to pursue a lawsuit against DTN during that time, but if they ever come knocking at my door, for sure I will file a lawsuit against them without hesitation!

I stayed here back in 2016 when I was in college, a few months ago I was told that woodbrook missed a payment from us and wants 700$..... 5 years later. I wouldn't even have the paperwork to prove that we did pay our bills by this point which probably helps their scheme significantly. What a joke, if you choose to stay here hopefully you don't end up with a mystery bill 5 years down the line.

There are electric bases boards in some of the apts which can run higher in the winter. No central air, just a wall unit which can also be high vs central air. Apts here have BWL and Consumers energy.
