The interior is beautiful and so were there services, but it sits in an extremely bad neighborhood. There may not be Gangster Disciples, Four Corner Hustlers, Latin Kings, and what not in that area, but there's flash mobs, which are in fact far more violent and vicious than the Latin Kings. And unlike gangs, Chicago flash mobs prey exclusively on media people, law enforcement, and innocent people. The flash mobs are cop killers. And they brazenly attack everything in sight, including CTA trains and buses, college and hospital campuses, the beaches, the parks, and churches during mass. And mass and services here are all too frequently disrupted by flash mob shootings outside and their stolen MP-5s and AK-47s. And it gets so horribly scary when you're hearing shouts of "Officer Down!" every 5 or 10 minutes. Shootings, mostly flash mob related, also occur commonly inside the church including inside the sanctuary. SWAT teams and police officers often get gunned down and murdered by the flash mobs. And people attending mass here also frequently get shot as the flash mobs are predators, and again, the mobs prey on innocent people that are minding their own business. The neighborhood is a war zone, extremely far worse than Garfield Park, worse than even Humboldt Park.

An absolute gem. If you are in Chicago or the area this is a must see. Those who are fortunate to attend daily or even weekly are most fortunate. Thanks for hosting Exodus 90, if you are a man & looking for true meaning, consider signing up for Exodus 90. It will change your life & help you become the man you are meant to be.

We came to this Church because it was right across the Street from my son's apartment. What a lovely experience this was for me and what a Gorgeous Church. The Parishioners truly participate and are so involved it really warmed my heart! I especially loved seeing all the Young families attending Mass.

Parking is a problem, there is only street parking and that is at a premium. The church is open before Hl Mass, therefore you can visit between Masses on Sunday. The church is absolutely gorgeous. It was voted most beautiful church in the USA in 2016
The Canons Regular
No, the parish is run by an order of priests and brothers called the Canons Regular of St. John Cantius. You can look it up online at Cantius.org! They are a very holy, orthodox, and reverent order whose mission is to restore the sacred to liturgy, music, art, architecture, and culture.
The Pergolesi Stabat Mater will be live streamed this Friday 3/20/2020 from the Cloister Chapel. You can watch at the St. John Cantius Youtube account.
