From a Chinese medicine perspective the functions of taste and smell are assigned to specific, and different, parts of the system, and if there has been a functional disturbance in one it may not necessarily mean a loss of function in the other. The assessment by Patrick, the acupuncturist here, because then if either function has been disturbed there will be other confirming evidence. Another treatment option, if acupuncture doesnt work out, is cranial osteopathy.
