Our home is over 4000 sq ft so heating is a challenge. We have been heating with wood for about 10 years using an Englander furnace tied into the ductwork. It could hold its own and was well-made but was undersized and ate wood like crazy to keep the house at temp, requiring many trips up and down the stairs to keep it stoked. And it took 4-6 hours to get the house temp back up if we let it drop. We finally decided it was time to find something else, but EPA regulations have made it difficult for manufacturers of these units to maintain their offerings. Up until a few years ago, you could easily find indoor units that could handle a large home, and for very good prices. Now maybe there are 2 companies outside of DS that make large units and they are ridiculously expensive and don't come close to the specs of DS Stoves. After locating a dealer, we placed an order for a DS-400 Kozy King and received it on time a couple months later. We had to put in a new chimney liner to get the right flue size and then were ready for install. This thing is a beast! The old unit weighed about 550lbs and was a peanut compared to the DS-400! The Kozy King came in at 900lbs and took 4 professional movers with a special dolly to get it into the basement. A couple days to get everything wired and tied into to the ductwork and we were ready to burn. After the initial burn to get the unit broken in- make sure you open up some doors and windows and have some fans blowing out the fumes off-gassing- we started it up for a few cold mornings (20's F) and quickly found out how amazing this unit is. In no time it had the whole house at 72 F and some rooms were hitting 75. We only reloaded it once after light-off and the house was still over 70 by the next morning. We normally like the house at about 68 so this was downright tropical! As we get our burns dialed in this will be no problem for the DS400. We are completely satisfied and impressed with it. The build quality is outstanding and all the features are really thought out. The filter box and filter keeps things quiet and clean and the size of the firebox is incredible giving you plenty of options on how you burn. Looking forward to cutting less wood too based on how efficient it is. Here's to many warm winters.

Order a boiler from them, supposed to be here beginning of July still haven’t got it yet. They apparently don’t have good customer service cause I can’t get a response from them. They apparently can’t get there stoves out on time I will never buy another one from them. If you’re looking for a furnace I would honestly look elsewhere like I’m about to do! Hopefully they see this and get in touch with me.

I purchased the heat right 120 - seller said I can burn wood or coal. Now I am on the website and it states coal - can I just burn wood? Understanding I need to stay below 600 °F at front of stove?

I'm pretty sure that coal burns hotter than wood so you should be okay with burning wood. You need to burn wood to start the coal fire first anyway...

Do you carry Vermont Casting wood stoves
