Mrs. Yee is the BEST! I texted her to arrange an appointment for tailoring two modern Chinese dresses for my wedding, and Mrs. Yee was extremely kind in explaining the different adjustments (in English and Chinese) she would need to make. Mrs. Yee is truly an expert on making adjustments that can cater to your body, and her rate is extremely reasonable for the careful, precise work she does. She also communicates quickly over text. I felt at home speaking with a Chinese auntie who really wanted to make me feel special on my wedding day through her beautiful craftswomanship. Thank you so much Mrs. Yee, you are incredible. Book Mrs. Yee for your tailoring needs, and tip her for her generosity and expertise!

Yee Tai did an amazing job on my jumpsuit for my mini-wedding during the pandemic. Couldn’t believe how meticulous she was! it was originally about 3 sizes too big and honestly she pulled off a miracle with it. I had three fittings in two weeks. I think 1 or 2 fittings for a smaller job would be more common but I needed a lot of changes. Another place I got a quote from, in LES, quoted about double the price and was also really stressed about the job, saying it would be too difficult and that I should just buy a different outfit if I had the time. (!) I do think being able to speak Cantonese with her helped, and it is super messy in her little studio, but hey, creativity can’t be hemmed in sometimes (unlike clothing). So happy to have found this gem.

My daughter and my mother went to Lai's Royal Tailoring last week to get a dress hemmed for her prom. $40 was put down as a downpayment. My mother picked up the dress on today and paid the remaining $20 balance before noticing the hem was crooked. The owner did not own up to her botching the dress nor offered to correct her mistake but instead proceeded to yell at my mother, berating her about how she doesn't speak the language. For what it's worth, the owner also doesn't speak English well AND not only is my mother's English language skills just fine, IT'S A SIMPLE HEM job that came out crooked. Absolute trash and purely unprofessional. The owner should not be allowed to own a store and treat paying customers this way. Oh, and I submitted a better bureau business complaint.

I needed a dress done for my wedding reception, just pulled in a little bit as it was quite big. I dropped the dress off I said I didn't have cash so the woman started screaming at me at the top of her lungs and pulled all the pins out that she'd put in during the fitting. I had to scream back at her to get her to stop to tell her I was going to go get cash. Asked her if I needed to be re-fit, because she pulled half the pins out of my dress, she refused and said she knew how to do it anyway. When I came back, the dress no longer fit around my bum at all-- they cut it down so much it no longer fit. When I complained and didn't want to pay for them ruining my dress, they screamed at me for a full hour before refunding my money. I love to support my people at Chinatown businesses but this lady is nutso and needs to learn basic courtesy and tailoring skills
