I'm giving B & N a 4 star review because it's one of my favorite places, and I don't want to let one experience bring down their rating. With that being said, I was very disturbed at the scene I witnessed in the cafe on Sunday 10/09. I went in and saw a line wrapped around past the magazines. There was just one young girl behind the counter cleaning, making food, making drinks, and on the register. She was on the verge of tears. Then I saw another employee walk up, see the situation, and start restocking tote bags in the cafe. She didn't offer any assistance whatsoever. On my way out I saw some employees gathered by customer service. I understand that everyone has their designated assignments within the store, but to look at a coworker floundering and not offer to help made me wonder about the general culture of how things work around there. I worked in retail and hospitality for many years and it was always all hands on deck and teamwork. If I didn't have to rush out after being in the store for 20 minutes for a latte (again, through no fault of the cafe worker, she only has two hands,) I would have said something in person.

I was pleasantly directed to the location of the type of book I was seeking. I couldn't find it but the staff found it right away. Still very friendly and we had a good chuckle. She knew she was looking for a red cover! The tricks of the trade 😊
