I had adopted one of my dogs from here years ago and he’s the bestest boy ever. Came back to get a cat and wound up with the sweetest girl of all time. Betty (now biscuit because she’s always making biscuits) is the coolest cat ever. The employees and volunteers here care about the animals and it really shows. Thank y’all so much for bringing some of my closest friends into my life.

These dedicated people do an amazing job with a small space on the property of their public works department in San Marcos. They are kind and caring to the visitors and also to the animals. I would recommend.

I did get my cat here and she’s amazing, but the shelter had little to no knowledge about her before i adopted her. They couldn’t tell me past behaviors or personality, they didn’t tell me that she was PREGNANT, and they said she was 3 years old but there’s no way that she’s older than 1. She is an older kitten at most. This shelter is just okay, not better and not worse.

New family member has settled in thanks to great staff who care and a great volunteer base who loves animals. Plus foster kitty is an absolutely treat.

We do not have any ferrets at the moment, but do occasionally receive them! As Jennifer said, Austin Animal Center had one when I looked yesterday, and there are central texas ferret rescues with them available as well! good luck on your search!
If the animal is from within the Shelter's jurisdiction, No. If the animal is from outside of the Shelter's jurisdiction, yes. There is paperwork to be filled out and they will need a valid photo ID from the person surrendering.
Yes they do, make sure the S. M shelter is ur designated to ur zip code. A small gester of thanks is always appreciated weather it b cash, time, or food. These things keep the convince nce of dropping off in operation, lots of luck to you
Yes
We do offer this service for those in need currently. Please call 512-805-2655 for additional information if you are still seeking this service for your pet.
I'm sure you can take her to the shelter, maybe I can foster her
Yes, when I walked in there they mentioned a donation box, I intend to donate after I get my car fixed
Not that I can recall. But they do have a lot of puppies and older dogs in need of a forever home.
You must be over the age of 18 to adopt from the San Marcos Regional Animal Shelter
Travis is correct. We do not offer vaccines for animals other than ones that are staying at the shelter.BUT every Saturday at 9am Tractor Supply has a vet there that offers low cost vaccines. There is also the mobile clinic "Emancipet" and "Vanguatd".
You need to check in person, or look online to see if they've update their intake pictures.
Not currently! Check the website frequently, cute fluffy puppies go fast :)
Yes, there are multiple volunteer opportunities available. fill out a volunteer application online at sanmarcostx.gov/animalservices and call or email the program coordinator for assistance in signing up for the next available orientation date!
As with most City of San Marcos Jobs, you must be 18 years old to apply for open positions. for more information please visit sanmarcostx.gov/careers
I took 3 cats there last month with an apointment to get them fixed and they said they were too busy, come back next month..
I would call county animal control to come and get the vicious dog. I live in Comal County but I believe Hays would respond the same.
Looks like they're planning on being open around noon tomorrow.
Yes they do
Their ages are usually put in their profiles, you might have to open them individually to read it all. At the moment, the shelter is by appointment only but they are flexible. Normal adoption fee is $90
Don't work here.....sorry.
Hi Hailey, we are an open intake facility. We do not charge owners for their surrender.

Should be able to. Id call first to make sure they are accepting.
Hello. You will have to call them directly.
If you sign up as a volunteer, you are allowed to play with dogs and cats.
Always hiring.People come and go,keep and eye on the city of San Marco's website at the careers tab on the bottom.Volunteers are a vital part of every shelter. But without full time paid employees it is almost impossible for a regional shelter to do what it does day in and day out. Yes, they would appreciate these items. Thank you!
Only full sealed bags or cans, no partials
Hi there, we're so sorry to hear about your dog running away. All animals taken to the shelter are updated on our lost/found site within 48 hours of arrival. You can find pictures of them all here: http://sanmarcostx.gov/254/Lost-Found just click on the "lost/found" picture. You are also always welcome to come by the shelter in person and look at all the pups who have been brought in as strays.
They only put them to sleep in extreme cases
No, sorry.
Sorry I don't know, but you can call them and ask.
Open intake with a very high live outcome. There is almost no such thing as "no kill" as "no kill" shelters still euthanize.
You need a bill of electricity and your whole family to live aye. Forgive me, I don't speak Spanish well
I'm sorry I can't answer that question for you. But you can probably go to the shelter website for information.
Does your little dog still need a home
Are you needing the hours for the Animal Shelter or Animal control?
Need to contact them directly, they have adoptions every day. Thank you for saving a pet. They euthanize animals all the time.
