Lovely fall train ride. A bit pricey considering there was no hot lunch as advertised. Seems there was a kitchen fire just a few days before we went. The did brown bag lunches, turkey sandwich, chips, apple, and some sort of cookie thing. Drink choices were mediocre lemonade and water. The train left the station late on the way out. Our return trip was very slow as the engine seemed to be having an issue. We even had to stop partway back because the engine was over heating. The scenery was exquisite though. I'd go again some day.

An amazing day was had by all. The round trip was about 6 hours. The train ride began in the high desert and climbed into the mountains with amazing views of gorges; giving the viewer a grasp of the changing environment. We splurged and went in the parlor car, which had it's own hostess/ guide. Kalee was great. Highly energetic Kalee shared her knowledge of the train route throughout the day. The lunch stop was excellent.

Took the train to Osier and back. The first bit is boring- flat and sage everywhere. After that is starts getting interesting. The staff was friendly, the food they fed us in Osier for lunch was great! Turkey or Meatloaf dinners with dessert, salad, soups. The leg we took had two tunnels and had a great view of the valley. It's definitely not one of my favorite train ride options in Colorado but it's worth the trip.

Did the Antonito Express Half-Day Trip. The train ride was great. Rode in the open car for half the ride. A crew member gives a tour along the route. The scenery is great. You get great views of the mountains, hills, and valleys along the way. It can get windy and a little cold climbing the mountains, so you might want to bring a jacket. The half-day trip only has snacks and alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. You might want to bring your own food and drinks. Definitely worth the price.

Call the railroad office for accurate information.
$100.00 a person for all day in coach. Is what it cost me and my husband.
Yes there were buses parked there and definitely appeared to have room on both ends of the trip
