Exceptional restaurant in every way! First and foremost though, I want to thank our server, Maya. Her joyful personality really jived with our dinner experience. She seemed interested and excited about our meal. She was prompt without rushing us. Just a kind, sweet human being. Next, gorgeous location. Setting: check! Ambience: check! Lastly, food. We ate a lot (we like to try as many things as we can fit into our stomachs.) To start, a foie gras mousse and the mushroom vol-au-vent along with a salad. The star there was the mushrooms. Morel mushrooms with a whiskey cream sauce and some puff pastry. Exceptional. I still think about it! For our main, we went with the special which was a 32oz bison tomahawk chop. A delightful cut of meat. Something you don't get everywhere (at least in California, where I'm from). Cooked perfectly. Seasoned beautifully. Scrumptious. We accompanied with some veggies as well. We try to have a "balanced" meal...even when over-consuming! Desserts were fantastic as well! I had a peach cobbler while my wife had the spice cake. Yummy on both. Had problems getting out of my chair, but managed. All I know is that if you are anywhere near this restaurant, and you don't go, then you are doing yourself a disservice. So please go and enjoy!

Wow wow wow !!!! Awesome Stupendous Sumptuous I am speechless! The setting ; views . Gentle sounds of the Gallatin river , smell of wood burning logs ; sunset views ; incomparable food ; served by our excellent waiter Bernie. Anyone who goes to big sky HAS to dine there . ( we went after a rafting/ zip lining tour ).

Situated within the Lone Mountain Ranch lies the "hidden" gem of Big Sky. The hunting cabin atmosphere marries perfectly with the forest & mountains surrounding it. The Saloon is the place to be though. The one-man-guitarist belting original folk music, the well-curated wines from around the globe, the perfectly executed cocktails, and the lovely fires all around, makes you feel downright cozy. Belly up to the bar for a full-service, first class experience from veteran & master mixologist Scott & partner in crime (my apologies, but I have forgotten his name, but he's from Minnesota). Both provided outstanding service. H&C serves locally sourced steaks that will be the pinnacle of your evening. Hands down the best New York strip I have ever had. Top 5 steak of all-time. Don't forget the smoked bone marrow butter! Next visit I will be ordering the tomahawk ribeye. I feel like this is the quintessential Montana dining experience. After a couple of hours, take a walk around the ranch, enjoy the sounds of the rushing river, & the great outdoors Montana is so well-known for. I could say so much more, but I prefer not to write a book. I hope to make it back to Montana just to visit this ranch & restaurant again!

For ordinary meat and potatoes, go somewhere else. Bison back ribs and the elk chop are both excellent. The cashew "cheesecake", Pinot poached pears, cashew Merlot ganache with a secret (ask your server), was a pleasant surprise.

We visited recently...all clean and masks in use.
Yes, both indoor and on the open veranda are lovely. If there is a wait, you may enjoy sitting at one of the outdoor firepits and chatting with other guests, as we did.
I'd call it dressy casual. You don't need a suit and tie, but don't wear cutoffs and flip flops either.
