My experience with my 6 year old daughter was pleasant. We were able to get an appointment within a reasonable time frame. The front desk staff was pleasant. Dr. Singletary was personable and worked well with my energetic little one. The visit was informative and we were made to feel like my daughter was an important, individual patient. My only note of concern was that the charge for the visit (out of pocket) was much more than we were accustomed to paying at our previous office and we have to go back in 3 weeks (I assume I will be charged that large amount again). Overall, we were satisfied and I would recommend.

Very quick and thorough. They took the time to explain everything that changed with my prescription and made sure to show me how my eyes were doing. Always prefer them over other places around

This was a great experience. From the moment you walk in the door you are greeted warmly. I was seen on time and the doctor provided me with answers to any questions that I had. Highly recommend it!

sleepSEE Ortho-K in the #1 Alternative to surgical (LASIK) vision correction! Our "sleepSEE Orthko-K" system is a non-surgical vision correction for children (ages 6yrs and up!) and adults. You simply wear a custom designed contact lens FDA approved to wear at night while you sleep. Upon awakening, you remove your contact lens and your vision is clear the entire day! We are so confident our system works, we offer a 30-day satisfaction guarantee. NO OTHER DOCTOR OFFERS THIS! Eye Medics Optometry is the first vision clinic in Fayetteville (and one of the first in NC (since 2005) to offer modern Ortho-K to the public. Our doctor (Dr. Singletary) is FELLOW of the OrthoKeratology Academy (by the way, there are only two academy FELLOWS in the whole state!) There are now other doctors who offer Ortho-K, but none offer our unique "sleepSEE Ortho-K" system! Our system focuses on non-surgical vision correction and myopia control/management. Can I do sleepSEE ortho-k after receiving LASIK?

Rhodora O | Oct 16, 2020
Eye Medics Optometry: Pediatrics, Adults & Ortho-K | Oct 16, 2020

Yes you can. In our office this procedure is called Post-LASIK ortho-k. Back in 2006, our eye clinic was the first in North Carolina to perform Post-LASIK ortho -k. When Dr. Singletary first started performing Post-LASIK/PRK ortho-k, there were only a few eye doctors nationwide who offered the procedure. This is because fitting ortho-k lenses on post-LASIK/PRK corneas is highly technical and requires a high level of expertise - especially since LASIK corneal flaps are tenuous (weak and easily dislocated/dislodged). The sleepSEE post-LASIK ortho-k procedure is a great option for people who are not candidates for LASIK enhancement or for those who simply do not want to undergo another LASIK surgery. If you are interested in non-surgical vision restoration (Post-LASIK/PRK Ortho-K), please call us today at: 910.426.3937.

But what's the difference between sleepSEE and Ortho-K?

Hi, sleepSEE is a system - much different from ortho-k alone. It (sleepSEE) combines orthokeratology (ortho-k), vision therapy, environmenatal modifications, stress relieving lenses, and more, to correct and protect vision from the harmful effects of myopia (nearsighted) progression - especially in children. sleepSEE is also used to correct vision in Post-LASIK patients who are not candidates for LASIK "enhancements" or who simply do not want to undergo another surgery. "My children get yearly eye exams by their pediatrician. Do they still need to see an optometrist?"

Eye Medics Optometry: Pediatrics, Adults & Ortho-K | Oct 16, 2020

The quick answer is, "Yes, your children should have their eyes examined yearly by an optometric physician (optometrist)." Now, the long answer: Pediatricians are not licensed nor trained to administer eye exams. Just like eye doctors are not licensed nor trained to do overall health assessments on children. When a pediatrician looks at your children's eyes, what he/she is doing is called a "vision screening" - which is a lot different from an eye exam. Although helpful, vision screenings are not in-depth, comprehensive assessments of the visual system. They are designed to only "screen" for obvious eye problems. Unfortunately, most eye problems are not so obvious. The takeaway is: Vision Screenings are not the same as Eye Exams. Your child's first eye exam should take place between 6 - 12 months of age by an optometrist who is experienced with this age group. We hope you find this helpful.
