Used to really like this Vons. Now they never have enough checkers or staff in general. I had a checker close on us after standing in his line for a good while. He closed without even having another checker to take his place and only one other checker was open. That line was already like 8 karts long

Bakery: Called a couple days in advance to place an order for a birthday cake. Person taking order was great as she took the time to accurately take down details. Picked up cake (3/24) at time I was told it would be done and I was greeted by a friendly person at the bakery counter who promptly retrieved cake from the back and offered to show it to me. Beautiful! Tasted excellent as well. Overall a good experience with pleasant staff and a quality product.

March 1 2022, 7:10 am. I just arrived in Bishop. I called Vons yesterday asking if I could overnight in their lot. The man whom I could barely understand said “No, do not come”. So I didn’t. This morning I am here to get groceries but I notice what a huge huge parking lot they have. If I were to guess, every resident of Bishop CA could park in this lot and still have room for RVs. It’s to bad that Vons doesn’t see that people are potential customers and show travelers a little courtesy in this. I have not gone into the store yet but I will update my initial review after my month in a local RV park has ended. For now I can only give 3 stars. I hope this improves with good in-store service. Later: I just purchased a few groceries at Vons. All I can say is WOW! Their prices are super-high. I would have purchased a lot more but my frugal brain couldn’t justify the expense. I do wonder what they do with all the groceries they do not sell because of high prices. Wouldn’t it be better to lower to a fair price and sell more than risk tossing out expired products? The staff was friendly.

They have great food. It’s just too bad the people they hire for the deli don’t want to do their jobs. Last time I was in here, a Thursday, at 6:15 pm, I was told by a young man in the deli, they stop making fried chicken at 6:00 pm so I couldn’t buy an 8 piece. Which the on floor manager said was incorrect but never corrected the situation. This time I went in, Monday 7:45 pm, the deli was closed. As far as I am aware this deli closes at 8:00. Seems to me like management needs to reconsider who they hire at this location.
