We held our 5/21/2022 wedding at Mill Race Historical Village and it was perfect. The church with its simplicity and elegance was exactly what we wanted. The staff were great to work with and pricing was very reasonable!! There were lots of locations around the village for pictures.

Cute little historical district in downtown Northville. Can park and walk it. It is on the small side but what's great is there are a few different parks like this all around Northville in the historic district. Definitely check it out for some local history!

I had my wedding at Mill Race, and my experience was amazing! Everyone was so helpful and supportive throughout the whole process, and responded kindly and quickly to any questions and concerns I had, from confusion about paperwork to worries about the weather! The ceremony was beautiful, we were married under the picturesque gazebo. We even received a sweet little gift package from everyone! Thank you, Mill Race, for making my special day even more special.

I loved reading others reviews as it helped me understand what this place was all about. It was especially interesting to read that the buildings were moved here and not built from scratch in place and you can book events here. The outsides of the buildings were well maintained but all were closed for walking inside them on this crisp fall Sunday afternoon. Yet the gazebo lights were glowing so, of course, we took a picture there. The water fall and huge rocks and lake behind it were all so beautiful so if we weren't taking pictures of the buildings we took pictures of that. The falling leaves and walking paths and benches with couples and families posing for pictures were great for people watching. It was peaceful and so classy and bucolic. I imagine that every trip there would be a different experience based on the changing Michigan seasons.

Questions & Answers

Is it open on the weekends for pictures? If so what times?

Theresa Gross | Oct 28, 2021
Morton Chalom | Oct 29, 2021

Hi Theresa, Mill Race Village is essentially open every day for amateur pictures. Professional photographers are expected to buy an annual license; they also receive the monthly calendar, to warn them when the grounds are closed for private parties. If you would like to see what the houses look like inside, download the PocketSights app on your phone and select the tour.

They open the buildings on Sundays in the summer. Sometimes they have certain events or special times throughout the year when the buildings may be open. These events should be on their website millrace.org

The village grounds are open every day until dusk except when we have a private event. You're welcome to come and enjoy the festive decorations!

Hi. Can anyone just walk around the village when it's closed? To take photos.

Yes. Well during day light, and not into the buildings. It is perfect for photos

I have my fathers 1980's metal "Key to Northville" George Zerbel. He received it for serving 15 yrs. on the planning commission. It is made of metal, his name is hanging on a plate under the key. The back is stamped 150th. I would like to donate.

Thank you for wishing to share your father's distinguished award with our town. How very thoughtful. I would start my inquiry with the Northville Chamber of Commerce . Certainly they would know with whom you need to speak...they may even want to display it in their office. Now, due to the virus, they are closed. An email to their website might be answered from a home site. If you still need assistance, please don't hesitate and I will personally find an answer for you.
