After the shuttle bus not running in Mariposa grove we were advised Nelder Grove was our best chance of seeing the sequoias, so we drove 35 mins up the winding road to get there but 2 miles from the Grove the road was closed, so no sequoias for us :-( September 2022

When I went in spring of 2021 there was lots of debris on trail and large fallen trees to cross due to a winter wind storm. There was damage to some structures. It was closed later in the season due to hazard trees so please check with the Bass Lake ranger station before you go. Be careful not to block people in when parking and cause a traffic nightmare. Also be careful not to get lost on faint sections of trail. Shadow of the Giants trail is closed indefinitely due to the railroad fire destroying that portion of the grove.

Great place to visit and go for a short walk-a-bout, but the last couple times we have come, there have been misadventures. This most recent visit was after a large wind storm There were a fair amount of fallen and distressed trees. Lots to climb over while walking to the main site but doable.

I was a trip to Yosemite NP last September (2019); after checking out Maripisa Grove I went to Nelder Grove the next day. The walk to Bullbuck and Chimney trees in a pristine forest is not to be missed. It is uncrowded & truly worth the drive from Fish Camp or Oakhurst. You won't regret the effort!

Free but not currently open. It is a US Forest Service campground.
The Shadow of the Giants area was killed by a wildfire and is closed indefinitely. The Bull Buck tree is alive and the rest of the trails are open. A wind storm last winter caused trees to fall on some of the interpretive structures. The campground is not currently open.
I have witnessed several weddings there over the years, but always small parties.
Absolutely. It's a national forest, not the national park. Dogs are welcome. We take ours there all the time.
The campground is free but is not currently open.
Yes
As of october 6th 2017 the grove is closed off once you get to the turn off. However there is camping and trails just two miles past at soquel and fresno dome, road is much rougher though!
Not sure but I'd take my chances and go... it's beautiful, secluded, and awe inspiring
