Giving them one star because I can’t put zero stars. I’ve been trying to get my children social security numbers and cards for almost a year now. They said it would be 4-6 weeks due to covid. At first when I would call (every month or so) to follow up, they said this or that department messed up (it’s never their fault) and it will be another 4-6 weeks. They stopped answering the phone and returning voicemails a couple of months ago. Don’t go here unless you want to receive terrible service and get nothing accomplished.

I went there when I had my SS card stolen by some mean thugs. I even sometimes had my card lost or it was so damaged that I really had to get it re-newed. I then got a free new one and I was so happy.

Only place in America that still requires a mask but can't provide 1. Where tf am I supposed to get a mask? That's been over with for months.

Your birth certificate used to work if you don't have an ID
Take your birth certificate, w2, and piece of mail to get your ID first.
3 months prior to turning 62
They dont accept birth certificates at all as they are public record. Copies or not.
On line or social security office
Once you reach your full retirement age, there are no income restrictions.
200 N. High St. Columbus Ohio 43215. You walk in the building and put your application in the drop box down stairs
If you're in Cuyahoga County, you probably want to go to Cleveland's SSA offices.
I called the main social security number to make my appointment I couldn't get thru to the local number either, they schedule my appointment but be advised I was told only phone appointments at this time. Hope raising helps
You have to do it online they're still closed they only have drop boxes available at some locations
Yes, but on appointment basis
If you receive benefits from them and can get them to give you a copy of your 1099 then yes. Otherwise go to the IRS on the first floor.
Call them.
Call the social security office and they will send you one
Call or go to the nearest office
Ohio was recently added as a state with those capabilities, so now you can.
Birth certificate and ID
You can walk in or call them
No. You have to do that in person with an ID or a passport only. No birth certificates.
Call and cancel it
Its free but you can only recieve 10 in your lifetime
Not sure but I think you may have to go in
You can earn up to 4 quarters of coverage per year. Each new year is a new opportunity to earn up to 4 quarters of coverage.
Go into the office and give them your social in person
From personal experience, if they ask for papers and ask you to give information back, you must turn in from the same address where you received mail. Trust me, I thought going to the closet one would do the trick but NOPE! It caused 3 hours of waiting at a local office just to be told I had to travel to one almost another half an hour away - the office I had recieved the mail from.
They make you a copy then mail you one to your house
You can call SSA and choose to not give your personal information.
You got to call your nearest SSI office
Nope. 9-4 mon, Tues, Thursdays Friday. 9-1200 wed
As Damon said, they stopped doing that due to high fraudulent activity. ("It takes one bad egg to ruin them all.")
You can follow the needs via their website, https://www.ssa.gov.
I'm not 100% sure since I've never changed my name but I believe you can do that via ssa.gov and follow the steps from there.
