The fossil fuel industry needs to phase out & this company needs to stop gas chambering the locals in the area! people can grow their own small crops of sugar!
Kevin Lahey
Yow, just had an awesome tour of the plant with Zac, who cheerfully showed me all over the place, from the sugar cane coming in, to it being crushed, boiled, purified, centerfuged, and finally sent over to the gigantic warehouses across the street. I was especially impressed at the way they burned the bagasse (the remaining parts of the sugarcane after it was crushed) to generate the steam that drove the whole plant. I asked a bazillion stupid questions and Zac answered them all, and kept volunteering more interesting info about the whole process. If you want to take a tour, it's probably best to call ahead, rather than walk in off the street and beg for a tour like I did -- the friendly woman in the front office spent quite awhile calling around to find someone who could take me around. Be clueful (unlike me) and make it easy on folks!
