The only thing you have to lose is the merchandise you put up for collateral. For example: if you have a diamond ring that your wish to pawn, you would bring it in to the store for a quote. Lets say that you borrow $200, you would have 3 months to pickup this ring before the maturity date. The interest at any pawn shop in Louisiana would be $40 per month on this item. If you wish to leave the item in the store past the maturity date, you have the option of paying $40 each month to have the pawn time extended by 30 days. A pawn loan is meant to be a short term financing option.
