Took my dog there for a 2nd opinion...All I heard is how her colleague in Newton Animal Hospital was so intelligent..LOL and goes on to say to us even with her assets she wouldn't attempt kidney dialysis... She talked down to the wrong person. Never ran new tests just read the fax paper from the other hospital. And insisted my my dog be ethuniszed protecting her colleague This is what a vet that passes with C average behaves like STAY AWAY. I'm entitled to a 2nd opinion not your narcissistic talk. In addition I do want to give special thanks to the "FIRST DOCTOR " who had our case at Newtown Veterinary Specialists he first was admitted I wish I new her name I was so upset and shocked I just heard the worse news for my dog that I wasn't expecting at all. This doctor is truly an amazing person and very professional. Sad but all I remember she is employed by Newtown Veterinary Specialists she is slim with light blonde her. Sorry hope this helps. I'll update when I get her name. The technicians in Newtown Veterinary Specialists were also very kind

Shady billing practices here. Even if you bring your animal in for one single, simple thing, they will still charge you an exorbitant “exam fee” for an exam that consists of them taking the animal’s temperature and listening to their heartbeat. Regardless of whether you ask for it or not. Regardless of whether it’s needed. I brought my cat in with a specific need that would have been relatively inexpensive, but that’s not how this place makes its money. They make it by tacking two hundred bucks onto your bill so a couple of bored vet techs can take your pet’s temperature.

Our cat was 2 years old and was throwing up and very lethargic. We decided to bring him to VCA. Our cat would eat bits of stuff off the floor from time to time and ended up getting an obstruction and the only choice was surgery. He was also dehydrated from throwing up. After successfully removing the stomach blockage his kidney levels were still high from being dehydrated from vomiting a lot. They suggested that he stay for the next several days and continue hydrating him with IV to bring down his levels. All the time incuring more charges. We were never told that giving him so much fluid could damage his heart and lungs. We never had a chance to make an informed decision about which direction to take. All the time our bill keeps going up. His kidney levels normalized but he ended up being put to sleep because of complications from over hydrating. We loved George our cat and he was part of our family. The bill came to $10,300 way more than we could afford. We ended up putting it on credit and will take many years to pay off. They were upfront about cost. But not about the risks of further treatment. When asked to help us out and maybe work out a lower price. They didn't even budge $1.

never have I ever encountered such an incompetent group of people, the fact this place has an average of 3 stars out of 5 tells you everything you need to know, no one wants to take their pet to an emergency clinic and receive mediocre care, at best, and be prepared to wait 6 hours or more only to be told you should go to their other office in Norwalk because the wait times are less, if you're pet is seen it will likely be misdiagnosed but don't take my word for it, read the 1-star reviews - avoid this place, you and your 4-legged family members deserve much better!! go to Newton Veterinary Specialists where you will be treated with respect and dignity

I agree 100 % they take in your pet then come out and tell you all of these tests need to be done and they got you because they know for most of us pet owners will basically try and do anything and everything we can for our pets that are of course our family members! One of the workers even agreed with me that this place is a multi million dollar company and trust me they will not even try and work with you with your bill and they are very expensive bills here! IMO this place should be an absolute last resort!

I am looking for a vet in this area. Could you refer a couple of veterinarians that also work at the hospital?

Don't bother with Shoreline. Check Barnum Animal Hospital in Stratford.

We take most pet insurance plans but always a good idea to call ahead and make sure. 😁
