Locked us out early. We were passing through this little town for a late dinner. We saw the sign for fried chicken and catfish and wanted to try it. My husband walked in the dining room at 7:45pm and I and my young son were parked in the driveway and following close behind. My husband was looking at the menu and stepped out to check on us and help us get inside. While he stepped out, they locked the door so we couldn’t come back in. The “Open” sign was still lit and we therefore looked at the time. They locked the door 11 minutes early. It felt quite deliberate and inhospitable. So…we drove across the parking lot to Swope’s Drive-in and ate some really decent classic diner food. They were closing soon too and yet were friendly and served my family dinner.

We came on a Thurs evening which is all u can eat catfish. The staff are always kind, friendly and easy to banter with. If you haven't tried it please do. Their pork tenderloin lunch is huge. Vernon's favorite 😋🥰

the staff was friendly but they were busy, they do an all you can eat catfish on Thursdays, so it was hopping. they got our drinks and order quickly but it took a while to get our meals. You get plenty of food. My tenderloin sandwich was big and tasty, but it was a little dry i had already cut the extra off my sandwich when I took the picture, there was about six mor inches of meat outside the bun. the fried chicken was good but the batter wasn't as crisp as I would like. We would be willing to try them again when they aren't as busy. They do charge 4% for using a credit card.
