If the recommendation is cosmetic, visit a plastic surgeon. I still have a scar and only half of my cyst was drained (benign). It was supposed to be drained fully— $450 out of pocket with ins. If you need a 15 minute routine service, this is your place.Otherwise shop around!!

Beware of the SCAM these people are running out of this office. I went in to have a skin tag removed and was quoted a total they would charge and that would cover everything I needed to pay and it would be done with. A month later I get a bill for almost double what I already paid and this is after they supposedly confirmed insurance coverage which they have no record of the call. Definitely do not recommend this scam of a practice!

I visited this place twice for my 9 year old son and saw Dr. Vallat. I felt rushed and as if what I had to say about my son's skin concerns were not important. I felt as if I was talked down to and grilled about specific dates and times that things were noticed. I told my husband after the second appointment that I felt like I was being treated like a teenage mom who was assumed to be uneducated and poor. Well I am 41, with a Masters Degree, a few certifications under my belt, and 19 years in the behavioral health field who does not appreciate poor bedside manner from physicians. Dr Vallat was sure that my son's issue was "just Excema" and was shocked that things didnt clear up when I returned. His tone came across (my perception) that he didn't believe me that I had been using the cream he prescribed. He prescribed a medication for my son and said "against my better judgement I am prescribing him this medicine" which i am sure you can imagine that hearing a dr say "against my better judgement" is not very comforting for a parent. While trying to calculate my son's dosage he asked me to "ballpark" his weight vs walking right outside to weigh him which his nurse offered to do when I refused to ballpark a weight. I was told that he was prescibing a tablet that i would have to cut to provide 3/4th and a gel. I was not asked about a pharmacy but rather handed a flyer and was told that they sent the prescription there and it would be cheaper. No info about the place...nothing but a flyer with instructions on how to get the medicine prescribed (nothing written was given to me about the names of the meds or the precieved diagnosis). Upon leaving I felt uneasy about the exchange. Wasn't convinced that my son had just Excema and was unsure about the medication prescribed. I called another place that afternoon and explained the situation. They scheduled my son an appointment for the next day (today). Although i was still prescribed one of the two medicines prescibed by Dr Vallat by the new doctor.....i felt heard, not rushed, and recieved an actual name for what my son was experiencing Pityriasis Rosea and was informed that there were two things going on at once. One issue with his scalp and another on his body (the Pityriasis). I have a good understanding on what to expect, how long to expect it, and how to manage any itchiness. I will NOT return to University Dermatology. Even my son said "this guy was a lot more personable, he gave us dap when we walked in and he laughed and talked to us!" In reference to the new Dr. Opportunities for improvement: - Be Nice. Personable. - Explain what you are doing, conditions you notice, and medications you prescribe. - Don't make your patients feel like your "10a in Room A" - Do not talk down to people or make assumptions about people. -Manage your micro agressions and hidden bias (everyone has them) The two stars vs one is because the nurse and the front desk staff were nice.
