Such a great place to train! Everyone is friendly and non judgemental. When you roll and they use a move on you you aren't aware of or how to get out of it, they will talk to you and show you how to do the move and how to get out of it. Not only all this but it's so FUN!

Fenix Jiu Jitsu is an amazing school for self defense, fitness, and martial arts instruction. Best of all the dojo is very clean and very inviting. Fellow students are helpful and coaches are top notch!

I’ve been to several BJJ academies in my life, and this one is the best by far. To me, the 3 most important characteristics that make up a great BJJ gym are: 1. A knowledgeable, caring, and non-self-absorbed instructor. Jason is all of these things. His critiques are always with your best interests in mind and he will never show you something that can not be put to good use. 2. A cohesive gym culture. This is more like a 1A and 1B situation in terms of importance. One of the mottos of this gym is “no Neanderthals”, and it’s true to its word. I’ve been to some gyms where about half of the people are there to use brute strength and ignorance to power them though rolls and drills. Not here. Also, in the 3 months I’ve been there, I already feel ingrained in the community. Generally, the team is very friendly and encouraging. The higher belts will happily roll with you and teach you along the way. No egos. 3. Cleanliness. Every BJJ gym I’ve been to has been extremely clean. This one is no exception. Sandals MUST be worn when you’re not on the mat, good Gi hygiene is stressed, and people are not afraid to let you know if your collar is a little too stinky! Overall, I feel comfortable, challenged, and respected at this gym. I would recommend it to first-day BJJ players all the way up to masters. Everyone is respected just the same. P.s. there are no “pity promotions” at this gym. Every stripe and belt you receive, from what I’ve seen, is well earned. While this is frustrating to some that do not move up fast, I think it’s the best way to protect yourself. Why would you want your instructor to be more on the lenient side of a promotion, then you get your butt handed to you everywhere you go by the same belts? I want my promotions to have weight behind them, and Jason makes sure of that.
