Money hungry doctors who could careless about their patients. Too many problems with the doctors and staff to list.

Communication sucks. I had a cortisone shot in March. Talked to them about getting a gel injection. Understandable, they have to get approval from my insurance. Called and left messages, emailed messages, no word. Finally 5 months later I talked to someone.... I will have to let the doctor get back to you, what? Another month and a half and finally talk to a person. Oh I'm so sorry, apparently when we updated our system, you requested got lost. As of Nov 1st, it says on the portal that have the request, my insurance has not had a request submitted, 2 more messages and nothing. My knees are hurting cause of the cold weather. Trying to workout out to get the 125 lbs off they say I have to lose to get knee replacement. But yet all I get is cricket.

THE WORST PRACTICE WE HAVE EVER BEEN TO. My mother had a hip replacement with Dr. Ortero the beginning on May 2021 - Full disclosure my mother has had 14 surgeries in the last 3 years on her hip or femur bone due to an aggressive infection that caused her to go without a hip or spacer AT All for several months. However the infection was finally removed and things were set to move forward.. which brings me to my severe disappointments with Dr. Ortero and The entire OrthoCarolina practice. Since my mother’s hip replacement she has had to go to the ER because of hip dislocation TEN TIMES. TEN TIMES my mother - who is a high risk dialysis patient- has had to be put to sleep and have her hip manually reset. Since she is on dialysis being put under has several risks to it because of labs of these patients. In the initial hip surgery done by Ortero my mother’s heart stopped bc her blood pressure dropped too low. Yet Dr. Ortero knowing the condition and risks of his patient has REFUSED to do an emergency hip surgery so that my mother no longer has to go to the ER, be put under, and risk not waking up - TEN TIMES HE HAS ALLOWED THIS KNOWING THE HIGH RISK FOR HIS PATIENT. My mother is in the ER RIGHT NOW, she just got home at 10pm LAST NIGHT from the ER bc of dislocation, and before that she had to stay FOUR DAYS in the hospital because of it- the hospital kept her so long for two reasons 1) her levels were unstable and they were unable to put her under to reset it for a couple days 2) They kept her in hopes that it would make Dr. Ortero actually do something for his patient. GUESS WHAT? He didn’t even call the doctors back about her AFTER 4 days! It’s so bad that when EMS comes to get my mother they know exactly what to do and know all of us by name. AND EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM SAYS THAT MY MOTHER’S DOCTOR SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF HIMSELF. I agree. I am disgusted with Dr. Ortero’s obvious disregard for my mother’s safety or even for doing minimal good work on his patients. He has yet to call anyone back. HE HAS REFUSED TO MOVE HER SURGERY DATE. He has refused to do an emergency surgery. Ontop of that his scheduling coordinator LAUGHED while we were on the phone discussing my mother’s situation. The quality of care for REGULAR patients is disgusting. Compassion and care are not a part of this teams practice and the way my mother has been handled screams of a lawsuit. Do not use OrthoCarolina whatever you do. Money hungry doctors like this should not be working on people. They are everything that is wrong with healthcare today.
