This is a great place to kayak or tube. We kayaked for about 2 hours and then ate lunch and went again for another 2 hour ride. There was only one spot that the trees had almost blocked off. If you get in the river by the crossing, you will get off the river about a 6 minute walk to your vehicle. There were quite a few people fishing.

I've visited here twice now over the last 12 months. Great place. Love the smooth concrete road through the park and the water crossing is awesome!

A beautiful park and recreation area near Winterset. Nice hiking trails, picnic areas, and bird watching. Just note, there is a prairie rattler habitat nearby, so watch out for snakes.

Please go check this state park out. It's just a few miles south of winters and it's worth the drive. There's a ford you can drive over if the water isn't too deep. You can also fish from there and the water is low enough you can easily enter it with kayaks or floats. Definitely a fun spot for anyone to come and check out. We definitely recommend it!!

We had a 42 fifth wheel we stayed at 21 across from play ground. The sites on that side where fine. Most of the sites on the hill are long enough.
To shallow right now. I did it a week ago and 90% of it was only about a foot and a half deep
Heed the sign. My rv is 12'7" I didn't chance it! It's easy to go around!
The yurts (they aren't cabin, more like big permanent tents) are very nice. Has everything a hotel room would have except for bathrooms. Pictures I believe of interior are on their website.
Call the Park Ranger. The readings change daily
Look up Madison county parks under camping to reserve online or call to reserve a spot.😊
The gates to campground do not get closed. Visitor to leave at 10 p.m
The mill is long gone but, when u come through the tunnel and go right there is a plaque that is right where it used to sit. There is also a bench there to i believe. I hope this helps u and have a great time in Madison Co.
It has 2 Yurts, but I think they were planning on another this year. They're nice. Plan for "roughing it" a bit though, running water is outside, and the restrooms are a short walk away. There's fridge, stove, air, sleeping space for 8 and hot showers at the restroom.
Yes it does have walkin trails. It has signs pointing them out. Its very scenic. U will really enjoy it.
