Pretty unique park for a small town. Impressive. Has wood carvings out of tree stumps. A hedge maze. Two playground. Nice pavilions with fireplace. The one we used had four fireplace. Modern bathroom with running water and keep up nicely. The driving path is mostly one way and a single lane so you are sometimes restricted by the vehicles ahead of you if they are sightseeing.

The hike back to the tower is not too hard as long as you stay on one of the roads. I tried to take the hiking trail up and it had called trees all over it and the trail was impassable. I was able to walk around most of the obstructions, but it was not easy. As a note the long straight road at the bottom is the easier path as the winding road goes up and down while traversing back and forth. It is more scenic, but the straight road is far easier.

This place is full of surprises. I went for the 2nd time today and discovered Clark Tower which is beautiful and provides dozens of photo opportunities. I'll be going back to try the hedge maze that I also noticed today as well. It just got dark before we could try. The hiking trails are very well maintained and most are bike and small car friendly. Its a pet friendly park also, as long as they are on a leash. There are a few playgrounds and restrooms. A cool little cabin and even a nice place to camp. Nothing but good things to say about this beautiful amazing park. A true hidden treat of Iowa.

A very nice city park. They have one of the famous Madison County covered bridges, a small castle, stone bridge, shelter houses, restrooms, & playgrounds for kids. It's very easy to spend an entire day just exploring the park
