Both my girls have problems with other kids. My daughter in 7th grade gets picked on.The kids tell her she looks like a boy and is ugly. This has hurt her self confidence a lot. My other daughter in 8th grade has to always be on guard because of the fighting going on. She is always defending herself.These kids think bullying and physical fighting is the solution. Where is the councelling in school??? There is no safe place!! Teachers solution is suspension, so then these kids don't get educated. It is a vicious cycle that keeps getting worse. There needs to be a safe place for the kids to talk about these issues. Change needs to happen before their anger controls them.

I just a review written by a parent stating her child had to be suspended because although she was being bullied regularly, she decided to defend herself. The parent was told "yes, if she did not defend herself, she wouldn't be suspended, wow. I have a special needs child that attends AWMS and was told not by any of his teachers, but by a Mr. Young that he would not be able to attend the 8th grade trip that I have already paid for in full $150.00. My question is why would an adult tell a special needs child that and inform a parent. Secondly, why would his teacher send me emails of the contrary, which of course I still have and don't have a problem retrieving them to prove my case. But, I believe what bothers me the most is, the father of one of my grandson's friends called me about a month ago and informed me they would gladly return his money, if his son could not go on the field trip. Well, I say to myself what's the difference between him and I. Yes, you probably already guessed it. When I see another review from a former Wayne county educator stating she fears for her children's mental, emotional and physical well being, it saddens me. What's really going? So, my only recourse is to contact GA DOE in Atlanta. Which I will do shortly.

Solo dolo

I have 3 students who attend Wayne county schools system. This school believes in bullying and there is no such thing as self defense at this school. I went to the board of education and spoke with the lady who told me since my daughter fought back after being hit a few times that she had to be suspended to. So i then asked her as well as a counselor at the school so is my child suppose to just let another student beat on them and do nothing? I was told yes that's the only way my child would not be suspended. They do not offer any counseling for students who are going through things they just kick them out of school. My child tried to commit suicide because she could not understand why all these kids was picking on her almost everyday.

I am a retired educator and grandparent of two children enrolled in Wayne County Schools. I am very concerned about the safety of my grandchildren physically, mentally, and emotionally.
