Love the layout of this campground. Multiple loops off the main camp road. Greatly decreases traffic flowing past your site. Good mixture of spread out sites and closer sites. Most sites have at least partial shade during a portion of the day. Some morning/noon, some noon evening. DNR patrolled or were present, multiple times per day, the 3 days I stayed. 4 stars due to normal annoyances ie. Generators, trash in sites, fire pit nearly full. It really is a nice place. We really need to do better as humans and pick up after ourselves. Oh, and ducks would land in the creek every evening, fireflies were amazing, as well as the bull frogs singing at night. Would go again.

Oh man it's the woods for real lol. Beautiful rustic campground. If you want to rough then stuff it... Your camping gear that is, in your car is what I'm saying AND GO CAMPING! What are you waiting for!

Nice campground with relatively low fees ($15 per night) based on an honor system. I nearly stayed here for a couple nights, but after selecting a site I realized that several of the surrounding campers seemed to have been living there for quite some time and they didn't seem/act like very savory people. Needles to say, I did not feel comfortable enough to stay there in my tent. Maybe it was partly because I was choosing a site that was dow toward the end...

There is water on site for filling jugs but no hook up. We use a quite run inverter generator when we stay.
I called and asked for more information about the campground, and this is what I discovered: The campground is considered a rustic site, which means no power hookups and no shower facilities. The cost is $15 a night, and dogs are allowed, as long as they are on a 6' leash. Hope that helps!
It was open as of 6/12/20
Yes they do have first come first serve camp sites. Also they have very convienently placed water stations and vaulted toilets. To top it off they leave some wood available for fires, if you're willing to search. Happy CAMPING to you!
8 to 2 ft
No showers. State Forest campgrounds are rustic. They have vaulted toilets and water stations. There is also a dumpster up front for trash.
Yea they're safe to eat :) water level is very low though since the dam broke....so not sure about status of fish population there.
I hope I need a nice place to go close to home
Yes they have a few sites that can accommodate up to 40ft. trailer and some sites are only for tents. Keep in mind sites are first come first serve so plan ahead jus in case.
No the river is down but still fishable and it was amazing
They were still closed last week, but i believe you pay as you get there at a little outdoor trust system type deal to the right after you pull in the gate
There is no boat launch at the park. There is a launch at Sanford lake.
There is a public beach on Sanford lake. I would kayak Black Creek but not swim.
There is river access, pit toilets a dumpster for trash oh, and there is an old fashioned water pump that you can pump water and the water is very good. There are fire pits although the floor around your campsites are not always mode back far enough for you actually have a good space to sit up. As far as dumpsites go I couldn't tell you because we tent camp
Day use is free...as long as you have park pass.
$15 a night
You could go to state land it's about 5 miles away. Otherwise, no
