Great course..don't go if it's rained

Don’t be fooled by the ratings like we were. We love Black Mountain, with the scenery and surroundings surely a golf course ran by the town it would be amazing?! Unfortunately not. To start with, there’s no distinguishing factors between the fairways and the rough. It’s all mixed together with the “fairways” being cut a little shorter. The layout was very poor. The layout is very tight and because of that you’ll be lining up a tee shot directly at another tee box about 200 yards further. Hole 8’s tee box is literally dried dirt, no clean tee area. In my opinion this course isn’t even worth the $20 per person at twilight times. Plenty of other great quality courses for a comparable price. Etowah Golf Course and Cummings Cove are worth your money and time.

This is your typical muni course. Greens were in great shape, fairways and tee boxes were a bit rough. The mountain views are the best part. Played on a Saturday and it was backed up throughout every hole, sometimes waiting 5 or 10 mins. Be careful as I heard "fore" at least two dozen times and balls were flying all over the place. The staff inside the clubhouse was very rude and also lied to me about available tee times when plenty of times were available on Golf Now. Called him out on it and he said "now don't start with me" haha The 17th / par 6 was fun.

No, putting and chipping area.
That's probably correct. Yesterday I paid 20 to walk 18. Unfortunately at the moment it is very wet. Hopefully soon it will dry out and be back to being a great Muni.
It's my understanding that they are open year around. Because the golf course is in the mountains, I'm sure from time to time it will be closed because of ice and snow. However, at this altitude it melts off pretty quickly.
Usually most golf courses do. But I am not 100% if this course does
I played there about a week ago. The course was real wet.
No, it is public! 😊
