Cooper River Yacht Club is an awesome place to learn to sail. Going into their adult beginner class, I knew nothing about sailing and had never so much as been on a sailboat. By the end, I felt comfortable taking out their larger boats for a 2 hour sail without any supervision. The class is very hands on with little whiteboard sessions to go over core concepts. The instructors were kind and patient giving great advice and getting us to the point where we knew what to do without needing to ask. I wish they had a little more info about what to bring on the class website. Nobody in the class got wet the entire time and I personally stopped bringing towels and water shoes after the second lesson. I'd just recommend a bit of sun block and bug spray. I'll be back!

Unfortunately no we have club owned sailboats and kayaks, but you must join as a member to have access to club boats. Membership charges are annual dues which vary depending if you want to use our sailboats, or own your own. You don't need to sail though and no additional charge either way for kayaks once you join.
Yes we offer adult and youth classes during the summer. Stop by the club or webpage for more information.
