After receiving a desperate plea for blood, I decided to drop by the Bloodmobile in Huntingdon Tennessee today at Cash Savers. I am a registered donar, by the way. After being screened by the registration guys I proceeded to the Bloodmobile and was greeted by the woman who was anything but kind. She barked off instructions, was rude and very unprofessional. The lady who took my blood was very kind and we shared a nice conversation. But that door-greeter needs to bw replaced. Being desperate for blood would cause one to expect to be treated very well. I know everyone has a bad day every now and then but this experience will make me think twice before going to another Bloodmobile.

You have to call and make an appointment.
If you were denied for a medical reason, discuss with your doctor and if he gives the OK call the blood center (7314274431) and see if they can accept a doctor's note. Otherwise 2 weeks for platelets or plasma and 16 for whole blood.

I have always been treated extremely nice and felt very appreciated when I have donated. However the Phlebotomist are human and can have off days just like any of us. I normally give platelets and so it does take awhile, and this week there were some mechanical problems which slowed them down. I am not sure about whole blood donation however. I do hope that you will continue to donate as it really does help save lives.
