Our hiking group hiked the Walker Ranch trail today and we were so delighted and surprised by the beautifully done wooden steps, covering the previously steep and rocky ascent from the South Boulder creek. What amazing trail work! A big thank you to the undoubtedly very skilled crew!

I saw a heifer give birth today and then it started snowing an awful amount 4 hours later. The calf is only a few hours old and it's snowing!! I can't get a hold of ANYONE, park rangers won't even help me out after I called dispatch. Do you think a newborn calf, that is usually born in Spring, can survive a night of freezing temperatures?!! Grrr. 1 star only to Garner attention. The space was lovely. I'm just irked people don't give a damn about animals.

I use and enjoy Boulder Open weekly. I would like to give my thanks for the people who had the foresight to acquire, protect and wisely manage these properties.

They close the trails at any excuse, then take four years to repair them.

many years ago (40?) our cub scout troop hiked down hill from near Kostler lake through bear canyon to below ncar. can one still do this?

Not as the crow flies. There's now a lot of private property between Kossler and upper Bear Canyon, as well as vital Habitat Conservation Areas that prohibit off-trail travel. However, you can hike the Green Mountain West Ridge Trail to the Green-Bear Connector, which will get you to the Bear Canyon Trail.

I assume you mean Mesa? If so, that depends on what section you are talking about. The trail runs from South Mesa on Eldorado Springs Drive to Chautauqua on Baseline.
