About 5 miles in and 5 miles out of nothing but beautiful Mountain Viewβs and beautiful wildflowers. Such a cool hike! Just a fun side note: Be sure to get there at or before 4am to guarantee a spot if you plan on summiting both peaks. We arrived at 4:30 and just barely found a spot to park. Enjoy the hike!!π

I had an amazing experience. If youβre going on a weekend, expect lots of cohikers and full parking lots. Got to the trailhead fine with my Subaru Outback. I got there at 9pm on Friday and the upper lot was full already. Tons of people arriving through the night.

One of the single greatest experiences of my life. Challenging and rewarding. 6 hours 40 minutes round trip with lots of stops along the way for taking pictures, no stops at all on the return. Roughly around a 9 mile round trip if summiting both together in the same climb. About an additional mile is added if summiting the two. Views of the continental divide are stunning. Highly advise wearing appropriate hiking boots with a bit more ankle support and traction as this hike is rugged with slightly high tendencies for rock slides. Not as prevalent if you stick directly to the trail although itβs possible to lose track of snow coverage is still present. Some of the snow coverage was knee deep for very short periods of time. My climb was mid June β22. These were my first 2 14ers, therefore I donβt have a comparison to others nor do I know where these fall in overall competitive difficulty levels. 2 together were a challenge. Happy climbing!

Great hike with beautiful views. If you are planning to go Friday- Sat in the summer you HAVE to be there by 5am or the lot will be full. I almost would rather go start around 11 or noon when the trailhead starts to clear out. Itβs a mess trying to find parking in the dark.

There are pull off spots on the side of the road, going up to the main parking lot. You can pull of on one of those
There is dispersed camping at both the summer and winter trailheads as well as along the road between the two, with the exception of a portion of the road that passes through private land.
Yes, but be sure to pack out your dog's waste and be ready to carry them if they get tired on the hike.
There are outhouses with no running water.
Yes, next to the trailhead.
Thanks guys! I am traveling for honeymoon and don't want it ruined.
Not now. You have to check the forest service website for updated fire restrictions.
