They get one star for two reasons: (1) you have to give at least one start, and (2) when you call the customer help for Florida Blue Medicare, you do get a live agent at a call center in the U.S. and the agents are very courteous and polite. As to claim processing, it is a nightmare. Claims that should be paid are denied. After filing appeals and getting payment from Florida Blue, the accounts have already been sent to collections by providers. The amount allowed for ground ambulance is nominal and he cost for ambulance which will be the patient's responsibility will be several hundred dollars. You are limited to your selection of providers. I have a C-PAP and need supplies to use the machine. There approved provider has been sending supplies for the wrong machine for months - they did it again this past week. I called Florida Blue to ask they put a hold on payment of the claim, but was told they could not do that (even though they certainly do for other providers when the claims should be paid.) Bottom line - they pay claims to providers who do not provide any service or provide any product you can use, but they do not pay pre-authorized claims - at least on a timely basis and without the filing of appeals. But the agents at their call center for Floridda Blue Medicare do answer, are polite, and are at call centers in the U.S. Nice folks who do a terrible job.
