Rooms are nasty especially when you first move in. Staff is very rude they treat people like trash. They have favorites and turn a blind π to certain families or individuals. They don't always feed you and just leave food on the counter uncovered most of the time. This shelter needs new staff period. Do not let the fake reviews fool you.

I have the craziest story about this place only in California
Prolific Wonder
Birth certificates were sent to their shelter after I left. Go to pick it up and Iβm told I already received it. I did not and relayed that Iβd only come back once before to see if it had been sent. At the time I was told it wasnβt and given a UPS parcel that turned out to be my bank card. Not once did I disrespect or raise my voice after relaying this, but this woman (Pat) persisted to ridicule me. I even implored her that she could check the cameras to verify when I was present. And since Iβm sure they keep record of whats received or not in regard to mail it shouldn't be hard to pinpoint a date. She says she doesnβt have the time etc., but will look through the files in the office. And that was only after the gaslighting and general dismissive demeanor. There were so many ways to handle that with respect and dignity. And I genuinely wish she had. All I wanted to know is if they didnβt give it to me then who did they give it to or if. Thats my daughters birth certificate its sensitive information you know? All the good will , any modicum of respect I had just evaporated. If your busy I get that. But there was absolutely no reason to be so flagrantly disrespectful and unprofessional.

BFS does accept engaged couples, as well as, single women, women and children, and families.
Well first of all, are you currently in New York? I ask because Bell Family Shelter is in York, Pennsylvania. Second of all, if you're in York County, PA, you should definitely call them to ask if there will be an opening for you soon. There is limited space and a waiting list. My husband and I had to wait 3 weeks after the first phone call until there was an opening. They will help you find resources and make contacts, but the leg work is all you. Good luck.
Some one should of called the cops amd let thr cops know what that man is doing . Have u sister call the shelter if she has no where to go.
They only take males with a family not single males
Please give more detail to your question
Go to the ymca.
Hii! Sadly Bell does not provide transportation however, they can give you links and numbers to cab and bus services
No separate rooms for couples and bunk beds are the setup in rooms
This is not a walk in shelter they lied to me and said they didn't have a room after letting them know that I don't have no where to stay they let me stay overnight and I had to leave after breakfast I'm still living on the streets they're going to tell you to call every day because there is a waiting list this town does not help you at all they leave you on the streets
30 days
Yes they do
Yes can as Long as there space she can stay....
Single men can not stay here because everyone shares rooms. We cant have men sharing rooms with women and children unless it's a family unit.
No the dogs go to the animal shelter and people go to the homeless shelter
Call them and tell them that you guys are homeless and need shelter
Yes anytime . Just give them a phone call and tell him u have donations u would like to drop off and tell them a time u will drop them off
This shelter is the only one in the county that takes the entire family. Men, women, and children. They also take single parents, couples, and women by themselves. Unfortunately men by themselves have to try another shelter.
