I have no background for collecting model train, but I am a car model collector. From my Perspective, somebody put their heart and soul in this museum, especially in the place it’s kind of remote. I understand some of people criticize this place is lack off educational material, but ask yourself what you could do? In a place lack of locals and probably helpers, it’s a Gem. Remember Lionel toy company bankrupt couple times, we are lucky to see those toy train still in motion.

“The Museum’s open times are geared to when the greatest number of visitors are likely to attend. You are correct that Christmas is a very special time for toy trains, and at http://nttmuseum.org/events/Holidays2019.pdf you can see some special holiday events. Since our location in Lancaster County, PA may require a bit of travel for some visitors, we have found that the Holiday visitation on weekends this time of year is higher on weekends than during the week. Since the effort to run all of our trains and provide staff can be costly, we match the hours to the attendance patterns. In addition, running all of our trains incurs the need for maintenance so that we can keep them in best performance for when the crowds come. We appreciate your interest.”

Wouldn't summer be the off-season for toy trains?
May be you can contact the toy train museum reception to get some contacts or search in Google for buyer's.
I think they closed till York two weeks away.
Thanks for reaching out, Alan. Unfortunately, the National Toy Train Museum is usually only open on weekends in April, and that's the case this year as well. There are a few exceptions, though neither of the exceptions match the days of your prospective visit: 1) We're open Friday-to-Monday on Easter Weekend—April 15–18. 2) We're open the whole last week of April due to a large member event (the York Train Show) in the area—April 23–May 1. We plan to put our calendar up on our website shortly (link to our visitor information page: https://www.tcatrains.org/museum/museum-visit/). Let me know if you have any further questions.
I did not see any on site handicap equipment, how ever it’s very roomy and if you has a , say wheelchair of sorts , you would have plenty of room and no one would be in your way - very roomy isle ways . Enjoy ~
