I have been a resident of Steelton a total of 31 years. Why I don't know (LOL) other than being born here and having no choice at that stage in life. I highly recommend that one not move to Steelton voluntarily. Honestly I can think of only one positive and that is it is close to a lot of stuff. Otherwise the place is horribly polluted, poorly managed and the water itself is brown/rusty like 4 times a year, every year. Not like when I grew up here. Its on a downward spiral like no place I have ever seen. My house value has dropped 25 percent since moving back here 10 years ago (as of 2018). The largest joke is the school district itself. The school taxes you pay are literally like the third highest in the state and the school system itself ranks near the bottom! Does this make sense to anyone reading this? The other taxes are on the high side as well. I hate to say it as it is my home town but it gets worse every year living here (my out of state wife says it has to be the worst run town she has ever seen). Please people, do not move here if you don't have to.
