Wonderful exhibit. Should be experienced by all!

Beautiful facility, great staff, free museum and active protectors of Cumberland history - highly recommended!

I think it is wonderful to educate people about local history, but the director is extremely rude and unprofessional!

A wonderful hidden gem in carlisle… I enjoy the interactive exhibits! I especially like the printing press, but it wasn’t working super well when I was there. Certain areas need some TLC, but it’s an I credible place to experience a piece of Pennsylvania history.

There is no entrance fee to museum. The two War Symposium exhibits War Amongst the People / From Swords to Plowshares are open till November 10, 2022 at the G. B. Stuart History Workshop (29 W. High St. Carlisle, PA 17013).
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Most of our kids programming takes place in the G. B. Stuart History Workshop at 29 W. High St. in Carlisle. Our events page on our website (https://www.historicalsociety.com/events/) or our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/cchscarlislepa/) tends to have the most up to date information on our upcoming programming.
Yes they have history on high street.
I am not sure what they have in stock so I would definitely contact them by phone.
Sorry for taking so long to answer. As best as we can tell it was never officially used as a hospital or infirmary. The Todd Hospital was located nearby at the northwestern corner of the intersection of North West and "F" Streets. This was the closest we could find.
CCHS does offer themed walking tours of Carlisle as well as various other locations in Cumberland County. They tend to be in April/May and September/October. The list of our upcoming walking tours can be found at: https://www.historicalsociety.com/events/tours/ . This should be updated before too long to include the Fall walking tours. Our Facebook page also tends to get updated with information about tours. The page I linked to above also includes our latest program brochure on the right hand side.
Unfortunately, CCHS' PastPerfect Catalog is not online at the moment. Some of our highlighted collections may be found on our website. If there is a particular type of record you are looking for you can always reach out via email or phone.
