Great place to see amazing perennial borders. And check out the huge collection of Fall tulip bulbs in the gift shop... Over the top!

This is one of those speciality places with the higher you get what you pay for prices. If you want a tree, bush, flower, lawn decoration, or houseplant they likely have something that will work for you. As for those higher prices, this is also the place that will help you find the right plant for the location you are planting in and show you how to care for it so that it will look its best and come back next season.
Susan Dietze
Absolutely beautiful! The gardens were magnificent, beautiful selection and extremely helpful staff. I drove over an hour to visit and can't wait to go back! Thank you!
John Mailloux
Brings back great memories with my family. Beautiful and huge selection.

Yes, our annuals are free of neonicotinoids. We do not use Neonicotinoids in our greenhouses or on the property. We practice Integrated Pest Management (IPM). Our plants are not certified organic because our nursery manager does occasionally use chemical fungicides to control diseases.
Dear Patricia Hill, The bulbs should be fine. With scissors, trim off any roots on the bulb that are brown and dried, but let the roots that are whitish and fleshy remain. Place the Amaryllis bulb, roots down, on top of the stones, then put the remaining stones around the bulb, leaving the top third of the bulb exposed. Finally, add water until the level reaches about 1" below the base of the bulb but no higher. If the base of the bulb sits in water, it will rot. After planting, set the container on a sunny windowsill in a room where the temperature remains above 60°F. The warmer the temperature (70-80°F night and day is ideal), the faster the bulb will sprout and grow. Check the water level daily. Add water as needed to keep the level below the base of the bulb. A shoot will emerge from the top of the bulb in 2-8 weeks; you may (or may not) see thick white roots pushing between the stones before then. Sincerely, Customer Service

Coneflowers do not grow well in heavy, clay soils that retain moisture. Too much moisture in clay soils may cause flower buds to wilt. They require about an inch of water per week. I would suggest cutting back on watering until the ground dries up a little and stake the flowers up. Sincerely, Customer Support

Plants flower on the current season's growth, and bloom more profusely if stems are pruned back to 12–24″ as new shoots emerge in spring. In cold-winter climates such as ours in Connecticut, plants often die back almost to the ground; simply remove the deadwood in spring.
This depends on what type of bulbs you plan on planting. For daffodils, we recommend planting the bulbs 5-6 inches apart, or plant 4 bulbs per sq ft. For smaller spring blooming bulbs such as, galanthus & spanish blue bells, etc. we recommend planting those bulbs 3 inches and 4 inches apart.
Clayton, NC is a zone 7. Sincerely, Customer Support

Removing spent flowers (tedious but rewarding work on large specimens) makes for a better show the following spring; take care when removing flowers not to damage new buds at the base of the old flower stems. Prune as needed after bloom, cutting just above a set of leaves. Sincerely, Customer Support

Thank you for your question. The Hydrangea needs to be acclimated to outdoor conditions. It is likely struggling due to being indoors. Once it is brought outdoors you should begin to see it perk up. What size container is it replanted in? If you are planning to keep it in a container outdoors, please check the soil to a depth of 1-2 inches for moisture prior to watering. Sincerely, Customer Support

Citrus need steady moisture. Water when the soil is dry to an inch deep. Don't let the tree dry out. If it does dry out, there's a good chance it will drop leaves, fruit, or both. Best, Customer Support

Wait a few days after the foliage is blackened by frost before digging the tubers to store for the winter. If plants are in a frost-free area, dig by mid-November. Cut the stalk to 4–6″ tall, rinse off the soil, and allow the clump to air dry under cover for 24 hours. Line cardboard boxes or terra-cotta pots with newspaper and layer tubers with barely moist sawdust, sand, or peat. Do not store in plastic. Keep boxes cool (40–50°F) and dry for the winter in a dark spot Check for rot or shriveling on a monthly basis; if shriveling occurs, mist the packing material lightly with water. Remove all old foliage from the garden area. Early Spring Dahlia tubers may be divided now. Plant tubers 6″ deep when soil has warmed after frost or start early indoors in pots. Water tubers sparingly once after planting and then do not water until new growth appears. Fertilize with 5-10-10 when growth reaches 2″ tall.
Many Siberian Iris tolerate wet soil well. Foliage can reach 18-24 inches will provide a hedge like appearance with the benefit of flowers reaching a height of 24-36 inches (depending on variety). There are several ground covers that tolerate wet soil as well as shrubs. Some suggestions are; Turtlehead, Liriope, Dogwoods and Winterberry just to name a few. Sincerely, Customer Service
Dear Deirdre O'Neill, Plant them 6–8″ deep and 10–12″ apart. Fritillaria imperialis has a hollow crown that may collect water, so it's wise to plant bulbs sideways. Fritillarias prefer plenty of moisture while actively growing and very rich soil enriched with plenty of compost. Plant in full sun to part shade. Sincerely, Customer Service
Dear Paul Kissinger, Yes, we are currently shipping bulbs for fall planting. Sincerely, Customer Service
Plant as soon as possible in full sun and light, very well-drained, humus-rich soil. Good drainage is critical to success with these bulbs. Plant bulbs 6″ deep, 4″ apart (10 per sq ft.). Sternbergia grows naturally in calcareous soils, so many gardeners like to add a bit of lime to sweeten acidic soil. In zones 6–7, select a warm, protected spot and use a winter mulch of evergreen boughs to protect the foliage. We recommend planting them directly in the ground. If you wish to plant them in pots, that is ok, but after they flower (if you live in a cold climate) you must protect them from freezing otherwise the bulbs will not perform the following year. Sincerely, Customer Service
Dear Mr. Laramee, We are sorry to hear the roses are declining. Our products are guaranteed for a full year, we will be happy to take care of this for you. Is it possible for you to send us a picture of the roses as that would be most helpful for us to identify the issue. Also, if you could describe the growing conditions/care that they have been given thus far. Sincerely, Customer Service
Yes they ship across the USA
Moving plants when they are dormant (in the fall or early spring) is the safest time to move them.
Spring to mid-summer flowering perennials and shrubs can be moved in the fall when the weather is cooler and this is best done on a cloudy day. This must be done at least six weeks prior to the ground freezing. Water well after transplanting and then do not water again until soil is dry to a depth of 2”.
Astilbe are considered deer resistant. Unfortunately, deer will eat just about anything if they are really hungry.
Dear Dan Dunn, 'Blue Billow' has a Hardiness Zone of 5-9 S/W. It is a reliable bloomer through Zone 6, and adventurous gardeners in Zone 5, where flowering occurs 3 or 4 years out of 5 may also wish to give it a try. It performed well at our nursery in full sun. Sincerely, Customer Service
Fertilize once in spring with a fertilizer designed to encourage blooms (such as 15-30-15). In many H. macrophylla varieties, flower color is determined by the pH of the soil; at low pH (acid soils) flowers will be blue and at higher pH, flowers will be pink. Generally, a pH below 5.0 results in deep, vivid blues and as the pH rises the flowers range from blue to lavender to mauve to a vivid deep pink at pH 7.0 (neutral). The pH determines the availability of aluminum in the soil; this element is more readily available in acid soils, and this availability results in the blue flower color. Since phosphorus ties up aluminum in soils, using a fertilizer low in this nutrient will aid in attaining blue flowers. Sincerely, Customer Service
Thank you for your interest In White Flower Farm. We do not have shamrock plants available for sale. Sincerely, Customer Service
