I went through the application process and spoke to the dog’s foster. She told me she was deciding between 3 people but I was the best candidate without children or chickens. We talked about any quirks the dog had (she was scared to go in the dark at her house and she thought it was just her house because she lived in the country). We talked about a meet and greet. I asked if I would be able to take the dog home from the meet and greet it everything went well and she said yes. Because the foster was going on vacation, we scheduled the meet and greet 2 weeks later at her convenience (I had to take a day off from work). She sent a coulle of photos of the dog during the 2 weeks. The night before she confirmed that all of the adoption papers were at petsmart and I could pay the fee with my card. We would be ready to bring her home if we wanted. The next morning I left to meet her (approximately 1.5 hours from my house) and halfway there I received an email that she can’t give her up because her husband was upset. It’s disappointing because I don’t believe she would’ve given her a better home- in fact she said she wouldn’t go out to pee for 12+ hours because she was scared in the dark at her house. Needless to say I waited and got the rug pulled out from me last minute. Their entire process was frustrating and disappointing. Most rescues wouldn’t have allowed a foster to back out at the last minute without even seeing if the visit went well.
