Solid food but slow service. Off season?

Thank you, The Avenue for accommodating my brother’s spontaneous proposal setup. The weather ruined our beach proposal plans, and The Avenue took us in with no reservation to set up the perfect proposal for my brother. We were frantic and desperate to get everything inside-so thank you again for being so helpful and amazing!! It was a moment to remember!

We just left the restaurant. Party of 14. As soon as I walked in we were a little confused about where to go, we proceed to walk up the steps just to be asked in a very rough way by the gentleman in the front, "where are you going?" "It's a private event upstairs" OK! so I proceed to ask about the reservation, he then took us to the table but with a very rude attitude. I figured he was probably stressed after all is Saturday night, 7:30pm as soon as we got to the tables... we sat down. The birthday girl had not gotten there so we asked if we could either sit in one of the big EMPTY TABLES around or put together the two round tables given to us. To our surprise, the person that sat us was the manager. Marcell. He refused to accommodate us. The tables given to us were right next to eachother. He still refused, stating that he was very clear that we would get two tables since we have made the reservation the same day. What does this have to do with putting tables together?!?!?!?! Through out the night I kept looking and many of the big tables never got people sitting on them. Through out our dinner he kept his distance but continued to look at us funny the whole night until the very end. We had taken a cake and when we heard that they charge for cutting the cake. We asked for plates and said we would cut it outselfs (3 dollars to cut the cake) Then we were told there was going to be a charge for the plates so instead of 14 we asked for 7 plates. Our waiter who was nice through out the dinner told the manager about the 7 plates. He came out and continued to look at us with a very disgusted face. He was so obviously upset. He showed annoyance towards us from the moment we got there. He was soo rude the way he kept looking at us that one of my friends went to talk to him about what his problem was. His response, "people are watching you cut your cake and we have to maintain our service" There was no one around. I HATE to give bad reviews, but this was uncalled for we paid for our service and we shouldn't have had to keep looking over our shoulders making sure we weren't getting him more upset or feeling like we were bothering through out dinner. I hope no one else has to go through this.
