Mr. Widman was always attentive in regards to my case. He was confident and gave great advice with different alternatives. His knowledge and concern for my case were great to experience during a hard time. I would recommend Mr. Widman.

I truly cannot say enough good things about my experience with the divorce lawyers at Bryan Salamone and Associates. This has been an experience that I truly never thought I would ever go through, but working with Wilton Widman and Doreen made it easy and less stressful. Mr. Widman took his time explaining everything in full detail and answered my questions quickly. I never had to worry about hearing back from my lawyer because the response time is unbelievable. This was extremely comforting especially when it was about my children. For someone who was going through a divorce having a lawyer who was conscious of your money is not something you will find in every lawyer. This firm is all about their clients. My husband and I decided that the divorce was a mistake and we were giving up too easily and Mr. Widman and Doreen were by my side with everything I needed and did the best for me. This firm is truly the firm you want on your side. I’m beyond grateful that I had the best by my side without going broke. Mr. Widman and Doreen are extremely professional and provide solutions for every situation you throw at them. For a woman who was extremely confused and scared Mr. Widman and Doreen provided so much comfort with their knowledge, understanding, and being all for their client that it made a terrible situation bearable and less stressful. If anyone is thinking about a divorce or going through it I highly recommend this group. If you have Mr. Widman and Doreen you will truly have the best support team behind you. I am beyond thankful for them and truly can’t thank them enough!

I wish I could give more than 5 stars. Alyssa was amazing, the moment we met I knew she would be the right attorney for me. She cares about her clients , has amazing communication and I always felt heard. My concerns were always addressed and she always put 100 percent into everything. I do not regret for a single second my choice to use this firm to represent me. The service provided has been above and beyond. I highly recommend alyssa and will always continue to recommend her. Very confident, very thorough and truly an amazing attorney.

Questions & Answers

Can I request to modify my child custody agreement due to my spouse's risky behavior with my child during the pandemic?

Yes. You can always modify a child custody agreement if your spouse is engaging in risky behavior that can be harmful to your children. If he/she was reckless during the pandemic it would go to whether or not he/she had been so reckless that custody with that parent would be switched. Remember, if the custody switch involves the children being pulled out of schools, the amount of harm that has to have been done to the children must be relatively severe and the risky behavior must have been quite severe. Judges do not "Ping to Pong". They do not play ping-pong with children and in our firm, we are brutally honest with everyone as to as to whether or not their custody case is viable.

Can I modify my child custody agreement because I was separated from my children during the pandemic?

Yes. Child custody agreements may be modified if there is a substantial change in circumstances. It will be beneficial for you to change your agreement if it is unfair going forward. If you are seeking "makeup days" because your child or children were quarantined in your spouse's house… That is not a good case and it is only worth the amount of days that you lost with your children. If the loss is not continuing forward it may not be worth it. We are an extremely successful firm and we do not lie to our clients. We do not have to. If you do not have a good case to change custody, we will tell you.

My business closed during the pandemic can I modify my child support payment?

Bryan L. Salamone & Associates, P.C. | Oct 13, 2021

If you have not filed, the payment is going to be the same. If there was a substantial decrease in your income, you can file now. In these instances, you will have to show the efforts you made to support your children while your business was closed. If your business is "DJ at weddings" and you are showing no income, the judge will impute income to you based on your appearance and skills, for example: if you have all your teeth; two legs and two arms; and you can speak the English language a judge will most likely say that you should be making $30,000 a year, even during pandemic. They will ask you to have mitigated the damages by getting a job in Target or anywhere you could.

Can I reduce my child support payment because I was furloughed during the pandemic?

Bryan L. Salamone & Associates, P.C. | Oct 13, 2021

Yes, however the reduction in child support starts the date you filed the petition for a reduction. If you were furloughed for six months, and return to work, you cannot ask that the retroactive child support either be returned to you (a portion) or canceled (if you have not been paying it). It starts the day you file. Anyone who was suffering through 2020 should contact us as soon as possible so we can file for a reduction.
