I have had a very positive experience with a particular judge. Had a nightmare with the clerks office, I mean given the wrong information over and over, asking the clerk to verify something and having them bark at me for 10 minutes about how they had no time to do it because their lunch break started in 10 minutes! Some of these civil servants have no work ethic and no shame.

Went in for a name change. Luckily the process didn't take so long. Just make sure and have exact cash change as they do not take cards or anything over the amount. Had all required paperwork and notarized form completed. Sent upstairs to pay then back down to finish the process. Was told to call to make sure everything was processed before coming to pick up completed name change paperwork. Calling has proven to be pointless though, no one picks up. Guess I'll be trekking down there in hopes that everything is done. Was told the day of it would take 3-4 days. **UPDATE** Went in about two weeks later. I was given my paperwork that showed a change of name. Was sent upstairs to pay, exact change only. Not too bad of a wait, as I was the only one for that line (5-10 minutes), so they could stamp and do whatever else that needed to. Handed back my paperwork and off I went.

Five months to get my name change petition approved requiring five in-person trips due to incorrect information shared with me by the staff. While bureaucratic hold ups are expected in these types of organizations, there is absolutely no excuse for gross incompetence.

Some notes from my Name Change experience there today to speed things up and make this a 15-20 minute errand: NOTE: Make sure your forms are notarized before you visit the office! I would recommend going to a UPS location that offers it. (The Supreme Court basement offers free notarizing services, but we waited for over an hour to get to the front of the line.) NOTE: Make copies of your birth certificate and driver's license ahead of time. If you want to make copies at the office, they charge you 25 CENTS a copy, so make sure you bring (at least) 2 quarters! MAJOR NOTE: They only accept the name change fee in CASH in EXACT CHANGE. They do not take credit or debit. Learn from my mistakes! Despite my stupidity, the staff was quite helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly. I would recommend this location.
