Some experience and tips to share if you’re considering to visit 1. They have two types of visit: (a) doctor visit (b) express testing only (this sharing is based on my doctor visit) 2. No appointment required, walking in is totally fine. In fact, I could not find any appointment info😅 3. EVERYTHING is FREE!! They don’t ask for insurance information. The site also don’t do any billings. 4. You should expect a long wait (it’ll take roughly 3 hours from you start waiting in the line to the end of the visit, if you’re seeing a doctor) 5. Check the weather and dress accordingly, because you’ll be waiting outside of the building for a while. 6. No need to check-in when you arrive, just join the line. The staff will come out to ask if you’re seeing a doctor or just here for the testing. If your seeing a doctor, they will give you a ticket. If you just wanna do the testing, they will pretty likely to bring you in to the building and skip the line. 7. Arrive no later than 9:30 for morning visits if you’d like to see a doctor. Because they have have a capacity limit and might not give you a ticket for doctor visit if you get there too late. I got there at 9am and my order is #23. 8. All the staffs are super nice, welcoming, patient, respectful and inclusive. No discriminative things observed. 9. It’s an all-in-one facility. You can get test, doctor diagnosis, and treatment all at once in a well organized order. 10. You can get test results notifications via emails and texts if you provide those. You can also check on their patient portal when it’s available. They’re just really bad at marketing and it’s hard to find much information about the site, but regarding the fact that it’s 100% free and the amazing experience, there’s literally nothing to blame about. Hope this can help. (I myself was really confused before visiting but turned out was a really good site overall) Definitely recommended!

I've had great experiences here and really appreciate this place. As an LGBTQ patient I felt very welcomed and they were thorough and knowledgeable.

I had an amazing experience at the clinic (Remember you must get an appointment for testing). Fast and very educational service, I was already done with my testing after 25 minutes. Workers at the clinic were kind and helpful when answering a couple of questions I had and the way the educate people is very kind. People usually have the idea that public services aren't good which might be true however the service at the clinic was outstanding.

100% free STD tests. They are closed 12:00-1:00 everyday for lunch. I believe you can make an appointment online. I walked up at 12:15. Waited for them to reopen after lunch at 1:00. I was all done at 1:50.

Testing is free of charge. They do a rapid HIV test, which takes about 20 minutes for results. For all other tests, it takes about a week or so for results and you can access them online, privately. They do a very extensive and thorough testing panel.
Although there is a COVID Express clinic in the same building as the Chelsea Sexual Health Clinic, please be advised that these are separate clinics with different services. The COVID Express clinics require appointments. For more information, visit https://www1.nyc.gov/site/doh/covid/covid-19-rapid-testing.page
The amount of time it takes to receive a result from an STI test depends on the type of test. A staff member can help answer any questions about the tests you receive during your visit.
Because our clinics provide walk-in services, it can be difficult to know how long a visit will take. A visit to Chelsea Express on a day with few other patients can be short - less than 30 minutes. You should budget at least 1-2 hours for a visit to the Chelsea Sexual Health Clinic.
At this time, due to the COVID-19 crisis we are offering only offering testing for people older than 25 years old if they have symptoms. Anyone 12 years and older can walk in and receive testing if they are experiencing symptoms or have a known exposure. Only people 25 years or younger can get tested without symptoms.
At this time, we are providing STI and HIV testing for people without symptoms only if they are 21 years or younger. People experiencing symptoms, regardless of age, can be seen at the clinic. Please note that this clinic is very busy and may reach capacity early. For faster service, call the NYC Sexual Health Clinic Hotline at 347-396-7959 (Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.) for telemedicine services.
