Best place to learn Spanish in NYC
Urszula Kadziolka
I took a two week super intensive intermediate Spanish course at El Taller this summer and I recommend the school to all interested in learning and improving their Spanish language. El Taller is a welcoming, unique and vibrant community of artists, students and people with diverse backgrounds. The classes focus on conversation and repetition, even using singing to learn the language! I found the classes always engaging, fun and exciting. They are really focused on teaching Spanish you can use in real life situations. During class breaks we had the opportunity to meet and mingle with students from others classes (Beginner and English classes) as well as sample fresh treats, bread and coffee available to all. El Taller was a home away from home for these two weeks this summer. I believe this is the best place for Spanish classes in the city!

El Taller is one of my favorite places in the city, as a community of people passionate about Latin American culture, art and music, and social justice. I especially recommend Alexandra's and Gustavo's conversation classes -- they're both excellent teachers with interesting professional backgrounds. They also Spanish activity classes for kids, and free English classes.

I've taken several sessions of the Spanish Literature class with Gustavo Carvajal, and have had a great experience each time. Gustavo always selects interesting and challenging readings from all over Central and South America, and the group discussions of those readings present an engaging way to practice Spanish conversation. The other students have always been lovely, and the environment is very informal and friendly. I'll definitely continue taking classes here.
