Strong Recommendations for Thomas Church! Knowledgeable of the law, dedicated and outcome driven. Despite covid court shutdowns and a lot of hurdles, Mr. Church stayed true to his word long after many would’ve let the file fall to the wayside. He stayed on mission for over two years and in the end was successful. His work will make a long lasting difference for us.

When I tell you that Tom Church is an amazing lawyer, my words would do no justice. Prepared, precise and perfection are just a few words to describe my experience. He was able to give me back my life after ten years of it being on hold. This law firm is by far the best and has the most well equipment/knowledgeable lawyers!! Thank you so much Tom Church!

Questions & Answers

What are your fees?

In a serious criminal case, our firm generally charges a reasonable flat fee to cover all our work in the case. That fee is generally divided into two parts. Please see our website for more detail.

What is payment? Is it up front or you win you pay?

For most of our civil cases, our fees are contingency fees. That means we only earn a fee if the client recovers a monetary award. In criminal cases, our fees are generally flat fees paid in advance. The amount of the flat fee will depend on the type of case and our estimate of how much time and resources will be necessary to handle the case effectively. (State Bar rules prohibit contingency fees in criminal cases.)

Do you do payment arrangements?

Thank you for your question. In personal injury and whistleblower cases, we do not charge a fee until the case is successfully resolved. In criminal cases, we usually charge a flat fee at the beginning of the case that will cover everything but a trial. If the case goes to trial, then we charge an extra trial fee to cover the additional time and expense.

Are you a pro bono lawyer for federal criminal cases? I need a second opinion and some advice on a case in Charlotte NC.

Thank you for your question. Our firm represents people in federal criminal cases, but we do not offer that service pro bono. We are also not licensed to practice in North Carolina, so we would not be able to assist you without local counsel.

Does your firm handle cases outside of Atlanta?

Pate, Johnson & Church | Oct 14, 2019
Pate, Johnson & Church | Oct 14, 2019

Yes! Our main office is in Atlanta, but we have won cases in every part of Georgia and across the United States We have even helped clients successfully resolve serious legal matters in a few foreign countries as well. Our lawyers are licensed to practice in all Georgia state and federal courts, and regularly admitted to practice in federal courts in many other states. If you have a case pending in a state other than Georgia, we may suggest that we bring in a local lawyer in that jurisdiction to assist us in the case. In such a case, we will remain your primary lawyer and you will not owe any additional money to any other lawyer.

Who will be handling my case?

Unlike a mega-firm that assigns a "case manager" or paralegal to your case, you will work directly with one or more of our lawyers at all times. We accept only the most significant cases, so our lawyers have plenty of time to work one-on-one with our clients. The specific lawyer working on your case will depend on the type of case it is and where the case is located. Our lawyers have different experiences, abilities, and relationships. We will make sure you get the best lawyer possible for your case.
