Came at low tide and the seaweed and algae was so thick the waves looked brown, but if you walk along the shore a bit there some spots that aren't as bad. There are lots of different kinds of smooth rocks, not many shells. Parking is convenient, $14 for non residents and very close to the beach. But definitely come at high tide.

We visited in July and had fun on the beach. It was fairly crowded and we had to wait 20 mins to get into the parking lot (or park on the side of a 45mph road at least a quarter mile away). We saw a lot of red seaweed in the water, an odd phenomena that turned the waves different colors. It's apparently not harmful like some red algae, but it was still strange to swim in.

One of the reasons why I live here. I love this place. People are respectful and considerate, the beach is clean, the water a tad chilled but par for the course in New England. Many of my childhood memories here and now that I live here again, I plan on making many more.

No
Yes but they have capped all parting to 25% of the lost capacity. And no on street parking
Dogs are allowed after 10/1 until 3/31 on leash. But you wont be bothered if they are off leash and cause no problems
Yes open after Labor Day. No cost or crowds this time of year.

Swimming,Fishing, boating, dining Depends on what it is you're looking to do around a beach area.
Can not
Not huge. Depends on weather but some surf there in early AM
I've only seen boogie boards and surf boards ... maybe a canoe but not a big inflatable boat
Yes, just be careful as there's no lifeguards around. Strong currents, sometimes.
It's actually pretty good on the west wall facing the beach around early May.
Parking is free this time of year. Use the live webcams around for the state beaches. Newport beaches are just over the bridge ($4 toll) and can have vastly different wave heights. 2nd Beach is my favorite for waves usually.
No
It's ok, never much when im there.
Stay? Camp Cronin is the only dog friendly beach in the Summer.
