This place has an abundance of trails, a great picnic area with views, and plenty of wildlife. Parking can sometimes be an issue for the trails, but there is usually a spot open. Enjoy!

In my personal opinion, hiking is ALWAYS best done in groups, even if just two people. In the event of a fall, unforeseen health issue, encounter with a wild animal, or any other emergency, it's best to have immediate assistance.
Yes...there are four camping cabins...each has a double bed and one set of bunks with mattresses. There are windows that open, an air conditioner and a small covered porch. Outside are a fire pit, lantern hanger and picnic table. Short walk to the bathhouse.
No spaces must be reserved
Never seen horses here or evidence that there was a horse in the area. Some trails are great for small kids and beginners, others are great for mountain biking and intermediate to advanced hikers.
The tea house has some great views but the house itself is pretty small. It would be good for a small intimate wedding but as stated before the weather has to be good. I have worked a few weddings and rehearsal dinners in the spring and summer time there and always thought the events were beautiful because of the views.
Yes, you can see both east and west and there are overlooks on both sides!
Not sure about Gambrill State Park, but for sure in Frederick Water Shed nextdoor to the park. Catch and release only! Need regular fishing license with trout stamp.
Please clarify: Do you need a seasonal schedule for the 2019 fishing season? Are people fishing at this location? Etc...
The park is at 1549' at the highest point.
Yes - dogs must be leashed, and bring your own poop bags - there are no trash cans in the park, you will have to take them with you when you leave.
From the Maryland DNR website for Gambrill: A small pond is located in the Rock Run area, just a short walk from the campground. The pond has a healthy population of large mouth bass, bluegill, and channel catfish. Additional fishing information can be found in the Maryland Freshwater Sportfishing Guide. The pond is a Free Fishing Pond - no license required. Swimming or wading is not allowed in the pond. Pets also are not allowed in the pond.
Absolutely! Some of the best in MD. There are challenging and exciting trails for hikers and bikers...and a couple for beginners(small inclines and slopes)...we have even seen a black bear!
It was in a little over 30, but I don't remember the exact cost.
