I'm asking the same question I need my tags for my new car also my 30 day tags have expired but the dmv website said they were extending everything for 60 so you will be ok until then

Have a Dr fill out the placard form. The Dr checks off temporary will be the placard every six months. The permanent one would be the license plates, and if I'm not mistaken, it should be stressed the type of disability. Please don't hold me to that one bit when I needed a temp one. Good luck

Hi, The person who sold the car to you needs to fill in one part of the tittle that you're the new owner. Then you make an appointment at the dmv to register the new title under your name. You pay the fee and that's it.

If you bought it from a dealership then the dealership will register the car for you and you have to show the dealership proof of insurance then the dealership will call you when you're tags come in. If you bought it from a private owner then you have to take the signed title to the DMV along with your proof of insurance and DMV will let you know how much you have to pay for them to put the title in your name and how much you will have to pay for your taxes and tags which you would pay at the DMV and the DMV will issue you your tags. Just go to the local DMV they should be able to get one on the spot. It takes awhile because you have to get a number and wait your turn. The DMV will issue you a new Real ID for Va.👍
