My husband and I have never been to Washington DC before and we were concerned because we heard that the city was “a walking city” and we’re not good walkers. However, we had a wonderful time on our pedicab tour. Don was our friendly, very knowledgeable, flexible guide. He made it very personal for us and answered all our questions.

Overweight customers beware, make back up plans just in case your driver isn’t comfortable with the weight even if you planned ahead and provided your weight beforehand for full transparency. Don’t be disappointed like we were. I wish the circumstances were different. I did extensive research and found some amazing favorable reviews for Nonpartisan Pedicab as the best for handicap and mobility issued folks to get around DC for great tours. I made the reservation with Robert a month before the scheduled trip. I made sure to let him know that we were “customers of size” and the driver would need to be comfortable hauling 2 persons with a combined weight of 600lbs plus 1 walker. He stated that would be no issue but would make note of it so the driver was aware. All aspects of the reservation and confirmation process were amazing. Robert was super communicative and very well informed. We arrived at Federal Triangle metro station 30 mins prior to our agreed upon time for a twilight tour. Driver Bob came on time. As my 70 year old mobility challenged overweight mom was about to get on the pedicab, Bob immediately stated that this would not work. The weight was too much for him. I called Robert and informed him and he stated that had never happened before but he’d try and find another driver. The closest driver who would be comfortable with the weight was 40 mins away. It was 55° with 8MPH winds and my 70 year old mother was not comfortable waiting for that long. We got back on the metro line to head back to Arlington. As soon as we got on the line and was at the next stop, Robert called back saying someone was 5 minutes away. At that point my mother was too disappointed, on the subway, and just ready to get out of the cold. I’m not sure what else we could have done differently. I was open about the weight, expressed the concern about being overweight and mobility challenged and Robert was confident and the reviews were fantastic. Looks like Bob just wasn’t feeling it. Thank goodness I didn’t pay anything upfront or provide card information. The unfortunate thing is it was my 70 year old mothers first and only trip to DC and we were only here for 24 hours. The last part of our trip was this twilight pedicab tour. I wish Bob would have been vocal about not being comfortable about the weight and drive well during the day or even when I confirmed the trip 6 hours before that way I could have made other arrangements for a tour.

We loved our tour! It's a perfect way to see all the monuments up close in just a few hours, especially for those with mobility issues. My 80 year old grandmother was ecstatic, and we couldn't have done the 8+ mile trip on our own. Patrick was a great guide - he knew the backstories on all the monuments, added historical nuggets along the way, and was clearly experienced in getting around town. He was flexible with timing, length of tour, and was happy to pause when we wanted more time or to go up closer (some walking is required at most monuments, but with the cab you're able to save your energy for those parts). I recommend Patrick and Nonpartisan Pedicab to anyone who wants to see all the monuments up close with a knowledgeable guide in half a day!

Great tour for someone elderly My 91 year old mom was visiting me and had never been to DC. I texted with Robert, who suggested a very convenient pick-up spot. We had a 3 hour tour with Fahad. All I told him at the start was she has never been to DC and to please show whatever major monuments you can cover in 3 hours. We had lunch booked at noon. Fahad’s tour was FANTASTIC. He was so knowledgeable, fun and considerate. It made such a difference being able to bike through some of the monuments and bike up very close to others where we could do a short walk to see the monument and view. He pointed out places with bathrooms and elevators along the way. He would even leave the seat up for us so that the seat didn’t get hot when we got back to the pedicab. Fahad pointed out the symbolism behind the design of the monuments and gave interesting mini-history lessons along the way. This tour absolutely exceeded our expectations! We highly recommend this tour, especially for someone who cannot walk much. You will not regret booking a tour with nonpartisan pedicabs.

Hi Todd. I think that a Nonpartisan Pedicab tour is the best way for elderly or disabled people to see all the monuments in Washington DC. First of all, we pick you up right from your hotel or any other downtown location of your choice. At the end of your tour, we will also drop you off directly at your downtown location of choice — hotels, restaurants, museums, etc. Next, we can get you closer to each of the monuments on the pedicab than you can get by a motor vehicle. We have special pedicab parking stands as close as you can get to each memorial. Also, it is very easy to get in and out of our pedicabs. We can get right up to the curb, and there is a very short step and a handrail. If you really can’t get out at all, we can still see most of the monuments directly from the pedicab. The pedicab provides a constant 360 degree view, and we can stop anywhere that catches your eye for photos. We can take folding travel wheelchairs on board the pedicab, too.
HI Joyce. We can fit three, and we do so all the time. It is a bit of a squeeze if the three are larger people, but we do it all the time. For three people in one pedicab, the rate is $105 per hour, pro-rated to the length of your tour. Most people take 2-3.5 hours for a tour, depending on how many stops you wish to take at the various memorials and how much time you spend at each house of the stops.
Hi. No, we don’t have any on site parking. Generally, we start our tour by arranging with you a downtown meeting spot. If you are driving into town, we frequently recommend that you park at the Ronald Reagan Building parking at 1300 Pennsylvania Avenue NW. It’s very centrally located both to start your tour and also to visit museums. They are open 24 hours a day and they never get entirely full (except possibly on July 4). But if you are staying in a downtown hotel, we can also just pick you up directly from your hotel. We are very flexible about pickup locations, and you could even change your pickup location at the last minute. Anywhere downtown will do.
