It is mid size airport for people travel to Irvine and south of LA, traffic is lighter and check-in is much faster than that at LAX.

For a slight up charge in airfare, this airport is much cleaner, smaller and quicker than LAX. Highly recommend if this is an option for flying into SoCal.

I have great experience every time of traveling to Orange County through this international airport. It is a bit smaller but because of that there are not very many people. Going through security usually takes just a few minutes; sometimes no line at all! The facility is very clean. This is absolutely the number one choice for people traveling to OC.

Theres only one main terminal on level one. Just drive down on the Departures on the right and find "American" and that's where you go! Hope this helps.
Food snacks should be fine. The only problem would be any drinks (Soda/Water/Etc) due to the TSA liquid allocation restrictions.
